Don Macnab-Stark is a screenwriter, script doctor and consultant living in Essex, England. Don specializes in high concept comedies and thrillers.
Don has consulted with dozens of writers in the past five years, helping them to improve and develop their scripts, and has written almost twenty feature scripts, including:
- Long, Cold Winter – Recently purchased by Greencap Films, due to be shot in Sweden in 2011
- Rabid – Don is a co-writer on Planet Four Films latest feature, shooting in Michigan, Fall 2010 (Director Brian Lawrence).
- Sphinx – Don co-wrote Sphinx for Hollywood based Blue Eagle Entertainment. Sphinx is scheduled for production in 2011.
- The Bulldogs – Don co-wrote The Bulldogs with writing partner Rhys Trenhaile. It has been optioned by Canadian producer Jeff Nadalin
- By the Book: A comedy/thriller also written with co-writer Rhys Trenhaile. Producer Paul Kemp is currently in discussions with HBO/Showtime about adapting By the Book as a TV series.
- The Boxcars – Optioned by Terra Films
- The Touch – Adapted from a short story with French director Stefane Houssier, The Touch is currently under consideration with Richard Dreyfus and producer Judith James.
- The Fragdoll – Co-writtenwith producer/director Arto Lehkamo (Mainstream Films).
Don has extensive training in various aspects of screenwriting and film, including:
- M.A., Screenwriting, Bournemouth University Media School (2004) – the largest and best-known screenwriting program in the UK.
- North By Northwest “Wizard of Oz” (2004) – Year long script development course based in Denmark. This competitive entry program is considered Europe’s leading script development program, and uses the Frank Daniels’ pedagogic method of screenwriting analysis.
- Script For Sale – Pro Series and Master’s courses (2005 & 2007). Hollywood’s premier online screenwriting training program.
- European Films Crossing Borders – Three day seminar on co-productions, pitching, buyers and sales agents, marketing, legal aspects of co-production. (Berlin Film Festival 2006, Cannes Film Festival, 2007)
- Bridging The Gap To The Market (Initialize Films, 2007): Seminar on marketing and developing a screenwriting strategy.
- Script Insiders – Script development course run by The Script Factory, Gothenburg Film Festival 2008.
- Raindance: Producers’ Diploma – A series of courses covering all aspects of film production from the UK’s leading hands-on film training organization. February – July 2008.
