People mostly get misunderstood by the term depression. The term depression in medical terms refers to retained state of mind which has no connection with sad feeling that an individual experiences frequently.

The second type of antidepressants includes the drugs that limit the range of extent of the monoamine enzyme which consequently leads to monoamines accumulation. The different medications used in this major type of antidepressants are SSRIs, non SSRIs, TCAs and MAOIs.

SSRI stands for selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. This drug constitutes of Citalopram, Fluoxetine, Fluvoxamine, Paroxetine and Sertraline chemicals. Consumption of this drug forbids the metabolic process of the dextromethorphan resulting in deadly levels. It is recommended to check with the pharmacy people for drugs potential interactions.

Non SSRIs have different mechanism of action that includes Bupropion, Mirtazapine and Velafaxine HCL chemicals. The expected side effects are giddiness, dry mouth, sickness and drowsiness.

TCAs stand for tricyclic antidepressants. This drug constitutes of Amitriptyline Amoxapine, Clomipramine, Desipramine, Doxepin, Imipramine, Maprotiline, Nortriptyline, Protriptyline and Trimipramine.

The side effects caused due to consumption of these medicines are blurred visual sense, changes in appetence, decreased physical attraction, dizziness, dry mouth, high blood pressure, impaired concentration, increased heart rate, nausea and nervousness.
MAOIs correspond to monoamine oxidase inhibitors. MAOIs drugs mostly interact with chemicals found in food products such as cheese, yeast products and chocolates.

Fatal condition can be caused due to hypertensive crisis resulting from interaction of chemicals with food matter. The risks in making use of MAOIs are so significant that they are not prescribed by physicians and doctors.
