Cholesterol is wax like in nature produced by liver and present in all cells and blood. When the level of cholesterol rises beyond the normal levels might result in heart attacks.
There are two types of cholesterol in our bodies namely LDL and HDL, which are called bad and good cholesterol respectively. LDL is the one which is responsible for causing heart diseases.
The symptoms are not very prominent to find at the initial stage unless the levels go high so it is always better to get your blood tested for Cholesterol level. This is the only way to know whether you are having cholesterol or not.
Total Cholesterol Levels
If the cholesterol level is< 200 it is normal,
200 – 239 almost high cholesterol and
if >240 high cholesterol
LDL Levels
LDL levels less than 100 is normal.
If it is between 160 – 189 it is high.
If it is above 190 it is very high.
Exercise and low cholesterol diet along with medications will help in lowering risk of getting heart attacks. Research had found that having nuts, oatmeal, and soy protein would bring down your bad cholesterol levels.
