Are you Ready and Set to Go?

Are you Ready? Sometimes the unexpected happens and you and your loved ones may have to evacuate your home, place of business or vehicle. Do you have the necessary items for emergency preparedness to grab and go? Do you have enough for your entire family or office staff? It is important to be ready at a moments notice and have a "Ready Kit " or "Go Kit " and other Emergency Preparedness products available at a moments notice so that you will be ready if the unexpected happens. We hope you never have to use these products but are prepared if you do.

The following articles are recommended to include in a basic emergency kit among other items specific to your individual needs.

* First Aid Kit with first aid book

* Non Perishable food and a can opener.

* 1 gallon of water per person per day for both sanitation and drinking.

* Flashlight with extra batteries or a hand crank flashlight with battery back up

* An emergency radio with extra batteries or a hand crank powered radio with battery backup and a NOAA weather radio

* Cell phone with battery, crank or solar charger

* A horn or a whistle to signal for help

* Filtering dust masks for dust or contaminated air

* Plastic sheeting and duct tape to seal off a shelter

* Personal hygiene and sanitation items

* Garbage bags

* Tools for emergency turning off utilities

* Extra pair of glasses * Medications

* Pet Food * Diapers & Infant formula

* Important records and documents

* Matches in a waterproof container

* Cash

* Notebook with pen and pencil

* Blankets or sleeping bags

* Sturdy shoes or boots and change of clothing

* Fire Extinguisher

Think about what you would need, and what makes sense for you to add to this list if you had to evacuate in a hurry.

Be safe and be prepared for an emergency with emergency preparedness items for you and your entire family. These important life saving items should be kept in you vehicle, in your office, in your home, or any other place where you spend a lot of time. The goal is to be safe in any emergency and to be ready in seconds with all of the essentials you may need kept altogether. Plan ahead to be sure your home, office, dorm room, car, or any place you spend a lot of time has a "Go Kit" or "Ready Kit" with all of the necessary items for safety in any emergency situation.  Be Safe!
