College Dorm Loft Beds

Posted: Aug 23, 2010 |Comments: 0 |

College dorm loft beds are popular with college students for a good reason. Dorm rooms are small and these beds help save space. By lifting the bed up, the usable space in that part of the room is doubled since you can still put other furniture under the bed.

Many college dorm loft beds come with other furniture build into the bottom part of the bed. This not only provides increased functionality, but helps provide stability to the structure of the bed as well. It is common to find these beds with dressers and shelving built in for storage. This gives the college student a place to put his or her possessions and makes it easier for the student to stay organized and keep the room neat and tidy.

One of the most popular styles of college dorm loft beds is the type that has a desk underneath. Since college students spend a lot of time doing homework, it is important to have an area in their room that is dedicated to study. The desk fulfills this purpose as well as providing a place to put the student's computer. After all, it's almost unheard of today for college students not to have their own computers. They are necessary for completing the homework assignments in virtually every subject.

When buying a loft bed for a college student, it is important to make sure you also purchase a good mattress. The mattress is usually sold separately, which is a good thing because that gives you more control over the quality. Most students will be much more comfortable sleeping on a firm mattress. A mattress that is too soft can cause backaches and make it difficult to get a good night's sleep.

Loft beds for college students should be sturdy, of course, but that is usually not an issue when buying a new bed since most of them are manufactured with college students in mind. However, if you are purchasing a used bed you should check to make sure it is still strong enough to support the weight of the student without any wobbling.

The primary consideration for choosing a loft bed for college students is usually the price. This makes sense because college students usually don't have much money, and by the time they get done paying for tuition, their parents are in the same situation. You can often find a good price on a loft bed at a discount furniture store or furniture warehouse if you are lucky enough to have one nearby.
