Relieve Stress with TV

Think about the items in your home.  There are of course essential things like cookers, arguable essential things, such as washing machines and kettles, soft furnishings and carpets and there are non essential items, such as games consoles.  How we perceive an essential item will vary from person to person, the majority will agree that being able to cook is vital, whereas having an easy way to wash clothes, boil water and sit comfortably isn't.  Today, however, most people have high expectations, and see many household items as absolutely necessary, and this is partly because of a change in society as a whole.

In the past a sole income was often enough to just about provide food and clothing for a family, traditionally, it was often the role of the woman to stay at home and keep house, while men went out to what were in many cases, very physically demanding jobs.  The historical basis for this is probably very ancient, dating from when men would go and hunt, leaving women who may be pregnant or nursing to feed and care for children.  Today, however, one income is often not enough to support a family, and there are a lot of couples in which both partners go out to work, entrusting children to childcare or to schools.  This may also be the case in single parent families, as the breadwinner needs to find a way to support their family.  This means that adults often spend less time in the home, and have less time to spend on washing clothes and cooking large meals.  This is how many modern appliances, such as washing machines and microwaves have become pretty much essential in everyday life.

An often stressful work life balance means that many people wish to relax as much as possible during free time, and this often means watching a lot of television!  Although TV gets a lot of bad press, and it is often pointed out that our ancestors coped fine without it, it is worthwhile asking whether, if given the opportunity, they would react differently.  In the past it was often the case that, in the absence of electric lighting, families would retire to bed as soon as it became too dark to see.  Electricity revolutionised lives, and today many see television as an essential item, helping to reduce stress and providing a distraction from everyday life.  If the right balance is struck in all aspects of life, there is no harm of watching TV occasionally.

The focal point in many homes, TVs are slim and can be easily placed using a fit TV wall bracket.  As modern televisions are quite expensive, often one of the more valuable items within a house, choosing a fit TV wall bracket that is up to the job of supporting the TV is essential.  Avoiding additional stress is important to modern humans, and having an expensive television balanced precariously on a less than fit TV wall bracket can be unnerving and is best avoided!

Branded USB Memory Sticks: No Longer the Preserve of the Techies

By: Phil Battison | 21/09/2009 | Hardware
USB Memory sticks were the classic “early adopter” product, the preserve of the “geek” or the “techie” that was willing to pay top dollar for first generation products simply because they “had to have them”. Back in 2002 when USB memory sticks started to make their way into the consumer market they were very much a novelty, albeit an expensive novelty with a typical memory stick only offering 16MB or 32MB of storage.
