Save Energy and Money While you Sleep

There is a very simple way to save a little money and a lot of energy during the night. Often times, especially when the weather is cold outside we will leave our thermostats turned right up in order to keep us warm throughout the night. By turning down the thermostat at night there is a huge possibility of saving some fairly major cash as well as conserving energy.

If you suffer from cold nights but you want to turn down the thermostat, a simple solution is to invest in a heated mattress pad. Heated mattress covers vary greatly in price but it is very possible to get one that is quite affordable. They offer the ability to warm the bed from the bottom up as opposed to piling on lots of heavy blankets and the new ones made today use up very little energy.

Many of these mattress covers will offer dual controls so if you have a partner who wants a different temperature than you do, it is easy to control the heat on both sides of the bed so that everyone is happy. Electric mattress covers can be very comfortable and are easy to wash and dry in our normal washers and dryers. They allow us to turn the thermostat right off while still providing for a warm and restful sleep.

Many people have reported that using this type of mattress pad has helped with their aches and pains as well as with warming consistently cold feet. Though in the past the wires in these pads have been vaguely bumpy, they now make them with such tiny wires that it is impossible to feel them and they are extremely comfortable.

If you think that a heated mattress cover might work for you I would suggest reading lots of reviews and comparing prices as opinions as well as prices can vary greatly. Certain people should not use a heated mattress cover such as:

  • People who are unable to turn off the controls by themselves
  • Those who may have a memory problem and could forget to turn off the heat
  • Babies and animals should never be placed on a heated mattress pad as there is the possibility they may get burned

For most though this type of mattress cover will offer much needed warmth for many cold nights. Having the ability to turn down the thermostat, conserve energy, save money and still be comfortably warm at night is worth the small investment in purchasing one of these bed covers.
