Water Purification Devices - for Water That is Dirtier Than it Looks

What if I told you that even though the water that comes out of your faucets is supposed to be clean and pure, certain water purification devices would probably be able to catch a whole host of toxic contaminants that you never imagined you could be drinking?

The truth is most water is dirtier than it looks. With all the chlorine and environmental pollutants that experts are telling us put our health at risk, installing a water purification device in our homes is becoming less of a choice and more of a necessary requirement.

With all the water purification devices on the market, its easy to become confused and discouraged - confused because of all the different types of water treatment products, and discouraged because of the cost and high level of maintenance associated with many of these products.

Some water treatment systems are better suited to industrial/commercial applications. Reverse osmosis and distillation fit this category. These two types of water purification devices produce water this is not necessarily the best for drinking. This is due to their inability to remove many synthetic chemicals. A reverse osmosis system also requires the ability to create strong water pressure, as well as a diaphragmed storage tank.

Installed in a home, a water purification device that uses reverse osmosis or distillation will require the addition of a carbon filter to make the water safe for drinking. The carbon filter much be changed on a regular basis, as well as the main filter cartridge.

If you are interested in bottled water, you should know that it is difficult to know what kind of a water purification device, if any, is used in producing this type of water. The government has no rules or regulations that require bottled water to be any cleaner or safer than tap water. Even the U.S. FDA has stated, "Companies that market bottled water as being safer than tap water are defrauding the American public."

So what types of water purification devices should you be looking for? The products that I recommend not only provide water that is safe and clean, but HEALTHY too. Heavy duty water treatment systems, like reverse osmosis and distillation, strip water of healthy minerals. Calcium, magnesium and potassium are in our water by nature, so that we can gain the healthful benefits every time we take a drink. Using a water purification device that cleans the water while leaving these important substances untouched, is a great investment in the health and safety of our family.

I have personally found that the best water purification devices for family household use are based upon multi-stage filtration. This system is the most efficient at removing high chlorine levels, synthetic chemicals, intestinal parasites and bacteria, while making sure important minerals remain.

During your research of these products, you will be glad to see that they come in a wide variety of delivery systems. You can choose from over the counter or under the counter drinking water faucets, shower filters and whole house systems. Many of these products are quite affordable and easy to maintain. Some will even provide certifications for removing certain toxins if you want the extra assurance.

If you suspect that your water is dirtier than it looks, you owe it to you and your family to go online and do some simple research. The guidelines I've laid out should give you a solid head start for sorting through all the water purification devices. Once you've found the water purification device that best meets the needs of your household, you'll be well on your way to getting water that is truly as clean as it looks.
