An EppiCard is a effectivley a debit card that gets topped up by the state goverment with your child support funds. This is a much more effective way compared to the old system of recieving a check through the post then banking it and having to wait for it to clear.
Each different state through out the USA has it's own regional card so when applying for one you need to select the correct state that you live in. Once you have been issued with your card the goverment will then top it up on a monthly bases with the correct entitlement. This then allows the user to use the card in the same way you can use any credit and debit card. The EppiCard does not have credit facilities so you cabn spend the balance on it. You can even withdraw cash from an ATM.
You will need to be aware of phishing scams with your EppiCard. They seem rife on the web at present and are a regular occurence to recieve them via email. Even if you dont have an EppiCard then you have probably seen the emails I am talking about. A downside to these scams is that people seem to have trouble claiming money back from EppiCards that have been misused. If this happens to you then you need to call them. They will send you a claims form and quite often, from what I have read the claim becomes denied and you dont get your cash back. The thing to remember when dealing online with your EppiCard is pretty much the same as always. Dont click on email links directly from the email. Use google to navigate to the EppiCard site then you know it's the original site and not a hoax. Never give you details in reply to any email.
