Acne can be the bane of one's existence. It can affect our self-esteem and unfortunately how others view us. It can be frustrating to deal with and an acne outbreak has a way of showing up at the worst times. It can be especially problematic for teenagers who are still a little insecure about themselves and women as they go through hormonal changes.

On top of everything else, over the counter medications work sometimes, or only for a short time and they can be quite expensive. Sometimes home remedies are the best to get rid of acne. Here are five very effective treatments you can do at home.

The first treatment is to use almond oil. Almond oil is very good for dry skin and it acts as a moisturizer. It also nourishes the skin while at the same time extracting the toxins from underneath the skin. This can aid in alleviating the development of acne.

Another home remedy is toothpaste. Yes, toothpaste. By using only the white opaque toothpaste you can rid yourself of acne in just a few days. It is used by applying it directly to the pimples and left on overnight. The mint in these products can aid in healing as well.

Third on our list is oatmeal. It needs to be cooked and then allowed to cool down first. It is then mixed with lukewarm water and applied to the affected area. Oatmeal only needs to stay on about ten to fifteen minutes before it is removed. This is a very good facial treatment which keeps your skin healthy as it removes toxins and cleanses the oil from your pores.

Orange peels have amazing cleaning properties and can be a great treatment to get rid of acne. It is used by mixing it with water and applying the solution to the pimple outbreak.

Last on our list is baking powder. It can take a fairly large amount depending on the size of the area where it needs to be applied. To use it, mix it with water to the consistency of a thick paste and apply. Leave it on for about four minutes before washing it off. Gently pat down the area to dry it. Do this regularly for a few weeks to see results.

One last bonus tip is to drink plenty of water. This also aids in flushing the body of toxins which can cause acne outbreaks.

There are many home remedies for acne that get rid of all of the expensive medications available. Taking care of your skin on a consistent basis is the key to treating acne and to get rid of it for good.
