A Guide To A Clear Complexion

Most people think that acne & complexion problems are strictly isolated to teenagers. When in fact, pimples caused by acne can be an issue for some adults well into there forties & fifties. A majority of complexion issues occurs when there are too many active sebum oil glands. These oil glands activate at puberty & are stimulated by hormones that are present in both male & females. Whether you are an adolescent or a middle aged adult, a clearer complexion can be achieved by enacting a strict daily regiment that will clear your pores, eliminate bacteria & reduce sebum oil.

The first key to achieving a clearer complexion is to clear the skin pores. There are several products, both over the counter & prescription, which will clean & clear the pores of your skin. You may need to experiment with a few different brands of acne cream available as everyone’s chemical make up is different & no one product that will work in all cases. The product must contain a mild cleaning agent that will not irritate the skin & cause redness. Followed by a good quality exfoliate or masque. These products will generally contain salicylic acid that acts as a peeling agent & remove an outer layer of the skin.

Next, you must eliminate skin bacteria in order to insure a clear complexion. This can be done by using antibacterial cleansers containing benzoyl peroxide that are available over the counter. Please keep in mind, products containing benzoyl peroxide can cause sever redness in some cases, however, this symptom should not be cause for alarm. Other means of killing bacteria can be found in topical products that contain sulfur & resorcinol.  You can find these products over the counter, through television offers & on the internet.

Finally, you must reduce the amount of surface sebum oil that causes extended outbreaks of most acne & complexion problems. Completely eliminating sebum oil gland production is impossible unless you take drastic measures with your metabolisms. This is, of course, is not a recommended course of action but you can beat the battle with a gentle astringent in which you can simply wipe the surface oil away. Another option is to use a masque product that contains sulfur to extract facial oils.
There are many differing opinions on how to prevent or eliminate complexion problems. In most cases, a common sense approach & daily regime of cleaning your face, eliminating bacteria & reducing facial oil production will bring about positive results. Start today for a cleaner, clearer tomorrow.
