Acne Care - the Abc

Caring for Acne infected skin on close examination is basically balancing your ability to 1, Keep the skin clean and 2, Avoid further irritation. In our bid to keep the skin clean, we can ignorantly cause irritation which can worsen the situation. It is therefore very important that our cleansing process should be very mild and gentle.

Irritation has various effects on Acne condition. It could cause scarring problem, it can cause more Acne to crop up and certainly it slows the healing process making nonsense of all your effort at clearing Acne.

Most people think that oily skin is the main thing to avoid as far as Acne is concerned. You would be right depending on your understanding of certain points. The points being the the causative factors of oily skin. The truth is that dryness of the skin is just as bad as oily skin and the reason is very simple. When the skin is dry, the glands try to produce more oil in response to the dryness and the resultant excess oil produced clogs the pores and causes Acne.

It is very important to prevent dry skin if you want to keep your acne under control. The common misconception of moisturizing being harmful to skin is proven wrong, as you can see so make sure not to skip this step in skin care routine. This will help you to avoid irritated skin. Therefore as much as the skin shouldn't be oily, it also shouldn't be dry. The issue of balance arises here again.

A simple Acne care routine would generally start with washing the skin. At this point, it would be necessary to point out that it is very important to know your skin type. Your choice of what to use for washing your skin would be influenced by your skin type as you would need something that would be mild on your skin type and would not irritate your skin. In washing your face, use lukewarm water and wash the whole face not excluding the jaw line and hair line. At most, wash twice a day ( morning and evening).

After the above has been done, the next sould be exfoliating. Use a scrub or facial mask and please, let the product do its work. Don't try to help the product as some people tend to in their zeal cause irritation during this process because they are rough while exfoliating. Just let the product do what it should do. Patience is the key. After exfoliating, you might use a toner to residual dead skin or and or excess cleanser. it is necessary again to use a toner made for your skin type.

The last would be moisturizing. This is very necessary as we do not want the skin to dry out. But like was pointed out earlier, you don't want to clog the skin with excess oil so you would need to use a light moisturizer that is made for the face as this would not cause clogging of the skin. Do not avoid moisturizing because you have an oily skin. you still need to moisturize your skin. All you need is to be more careful with its application.

Lastly, there are necessary things to incoporate into our habits and skin care routine. These are:

-Reduce the rate at which you touch your skin. If you must touch your skin as you may have to from time to time, make sure your hands are clean. This is necessary because careless touching of the face can transfer dirt and oil to the face which could result in clogging of the skin. I guess by now we all know we want to avoid this by all means.

-Pick products you use be them makeup kits or other products very carefully. Read the labels and only get products for Acne prone skin and avoid products that have oil as its main ingredient.

-Care should be taken in the use of over the counter Acne medication. Should you choose to treat your skin with OTC Acne medication, make sure you follow all the directions religiously to avoid complications and a possible worsening of the situation.

In your Skin care routine, it is important to be patient. After formulating a routine, stick to it. Even if your are nto able to totally eradicate Acne immediately, you should see a nice and encouraging result after consistent and I must add well informed Acne skin care routine. Be informed. Know what is true and what is simply myth or misconception. Have an Acne free life.
