Acne - It's All About the Hormones

Posted: Jan 06, 2010 |Comments: 0 |

I suffered from adult acne for many, many years. Each day my confidence would be diminished further as would my hope that my acne would ever go. I became depressed, my social life was a constant fear for me rather than a joy, I would make excuses for why I wouldn't meet new people, and the sadness was that I was in my twenties when I should have been enjoying being out there, meeting new friends and having relationships.

The worse thing about my acne was it felt out of my control. I would try a new lotion and my acne would subside a little and I would feel elated only for my acne to return with a vengeance, knocking my hope of being cured further down and increasing my self-loathing.

I would then go to the doctor's and be prescribed antibiotics or another drug to help me get rid of my acne- dear God please let this work, I would pray. Sure enough after a week or so I would have a few less spots on my chin, excited that I would be cured I would book up to see friends for a couple of weeks time, when my spots would surely all have gone- only for me to cancel as my spots would come back.

This cycle of hope and disappointment felt so cruel. So instead of other people telling me why I did, or might have acne, I decided to look into it myself. I researched various books and websites and found out that I had acne because my hormones were imbalanced. I was sold many "cures" that would get rid of my spots, but none that actually sorted the root of my problem which was the imbalanced hormones.

So the fact is acne is not caused by your age, the cleanliness of your skin, or even chips and chocolate, it is caused because your body is out of balance and it is needs you to take notice.

You do not need to spend lots of money to address this problem, although there are of course quick fixes which will diminish your acne for a short time, but unless your hormonal imbalance is addressed your acne will not permanently go and it will leave you with a life-sentence of worrying it will return.

The easiest and most natural ways to rebalance your hormones are with a low GI diet, reducing stress by removing factors that are causing you stress, exercising which will reduce stress, depression and also help expel the acne and using natural treatments to soothe and heal your skin. So your skin not only gets rid of acne, but your whole mind, body and spirit is calmed in the process and you will glow with health and reclaim your life and confidence for good!
