Acne skin care products come in different sizes and different forms. There are creams, oils, facial wash formulas, soap bars and ointments marketed to millions of people who are trying to find a cure for their skin problems. But how to choose the right one? And what if you made the wrong choice? Below is a list of what you should consider and what problems you will be facing if you're not careful

Choosing the right acne skin care products
1. Seek the help of professionals. If you need a solution, particularly for the developed type of acne, don't hesitate to consult a doctor or a skin specialist. The money you will be paying them might be even less than the money you will spend if your condition worsens through experimentation.

2. Know your type of skin. Get a skin patch test. The treatment for acne for oily skin is different from those who have sensitive skin and even dry skin. Acne is only four letters, but its meaning and characteristics are more than double this number.

3. Know the products and procedures. Mild to moderate acne is generally treated by antibacterial ointments, antibiotics and retinoids. Each has its own pros and cons, sometimes depending on the individual's reaction to each. You also have hormonal treatment options for women, cosmetic procedures and laser therapies. The last two are for more developed forms of acne. Home remedies are also available for mild acne conditions. Fruits are the most common ingredients of such cures.

4. Learn the causes. It could be hormonal, unhygienic practices, allergies and even something far worse. Sometimes, acne might not be acne at all but a manifestation of some other condition. Always consult a doctor if you feel that your pimples are more than they appear.

The consequences of careless choices
1. Allergic reaction. Always take note of the medications you are using. They might have the potential of being harmful when combined with other drugs. At the same time, don't just buy anything off the shelf or use what your friend is using, it might work for him or her, but might be bad for you.

2. Extra costs. If you just buy a pimple cure without consulting your doctor and it didn't work, that's money already wasted.

3. Scarring. The longer you leave your pimples unattended, the more likely that they will leave their marks, particularly if you have a habit of squeezing or touching them. Don't wait until it's too late, address the problem at its onset.

4. Multiplying problems. If you experiment on a solution and it wasn't for you, it could create another problem or another health condition, which means that you now have to find a cure for your acne and the other problem caused by your erroneous choice of cure.

Acne skin care products are numerous and varied in their formulations and purpose. Always exercise caution when choosing your treatment or you might not solve the problem but actually make it worse or end up creating another.
