Adult acne is most often caused by imbalances in hormones and a poor diet. The hormonal imbalance is generally something that only a doctor can treat but what people don't realise is that hormonal changes can be caused by diet too. So your acne problems could all be caused solely by what you eat on a daily basis.

Fats

Eating fat can cause excessively greasy skin as it is absorbed and excreted in small amounts through the skins pores. These fats then act as food for bacteria causing any exisitng spots or ipimples to flair up and become acne. By reducing your fat intake you're reducing the food supply of these skin borne bacteria.

Sugars

Simple sugars such as glucose and fructose can cause havoc with your mineral levels and increase levels of fatty acids in the blood which make a bee line for the skin when you sweat. On top of that when the body is heavily loaded with ugar it will diminish the body's ability to absorb vitamin C. This is an important anti oxidant that's necessary for repairing and maintaning all of your body's vital organs - including your skin.

E Numbers

Not all E numbers cause acne but many do. The worst culprits are those found in soft drinks. It's always recommended to keep your intake of soft drinks below 2 per day to give the body chance to filter out the E numbers you're taking in.

Water

A great way to help your body rid itself of toxins via a more natural route is to drink plenty of water throughout the day. Plenty means 8-10 glasses of water per day. This has the effect of flushing the toxins form your body via the kidneys instead of through the skin. It's a little known fact that urea (a key component of urine) is also present in sweat. The body will produce more throguh sweat during dehdration therfore causing skin irritation and acne flair up. Drinking plenty of water can help to cure adult acne.

So in summary you're best adult acne cure is a diet high in vitamins and minerals form natural sources such as fruit and vegetables. Lots of water throughout the day and limiting your intake of the bad guys such as E numbers, fats and sugars.
