Everyone knows the physical effects or scars of acne because they are clearly visible on our face. But there is also emotional effect or scars which no acne creams or medications in the world can heal. Not even the doctors or the most expert dermatologists can help.

Every teenager who has acne will feel the social impact of acne, there is this feeling of shame, depression and self-pity. It is not only the physical pain they feel but also the emotional pain. If you are a parent and have a teenager who suffers from acne, there are many things you can do to support your kid emotionally.

Here are some the things you can do to give emotional support for your teen:

Remind your child that acne is temporary.

As parent, you have probably seen or felt the unhappiness or torture coming from your kid when he or she plagued by acne. You should try to give encouragement to your child, tell him or her that the problem is temporary and it would be passed soon. Give them confidence to carry out their normal activities. Never criticise or make fun of the problems they have. Play your role as a good guardian and never stop giving your emotional support.

Bring your teen to a good dermatologist

Bring your kid to a qualified dermatologist and someone who understands and likes to communicate with kids. Visit the dermatologist together with your child, this is how you show your kid that you care and continue to give him the support he needs. This is important so that you can continue to play your role as a good guardian and know how to give advice and remind your teen to follow the instructions of the dermatologist.

WIth some good knowledge, you will be able to guide your child to do the right things. There are some things or acts that may worsen acne such as touching them with hands. See to it and remind your teen what the dermatologist said. At home, you are an extended hand of dermatologist.

These are just some of the things you can do to help your teen go through his or her emotional pain. Parents are vital to the healthy development and growth of children, so be a good role model for your kids. Always be there and give support when they are emotionally disturbed by acne problems. Your kids will appreciate that and they will always seek you out when they have any problem in the future.
