As mentioned above, acne tends to strike teenagers, usually at the beginning of puberty. This usually happens at the young age of 13 and can last for up to 10 years and sometimes more. Usually, the condition will take care by itself when a person reaches early twenties but it may persist for some people.

Generally, both men and women are equally likely to be affected but the more severe case seems to be more common among young men. Although it is hard to pin point exactly what causes acne, there seem to be some strong evidence that hormonal changes is the culprit for many of the cases.

Nobody likes to deal with acne and everyone would like to get rid of acne as soon a possible. For some, it can take up to 10 years before they gain any victory against acne. This 10 years can seemed like a lifetime for some people.

If you have been plagued by acnes for quite some time and is starting to get frustrated, there may be a tendency for you to take drastic measures like popping and smashing pimples. Try not to do that as that can worsen the situation and may even result in scarring.
