Products that Get Rid of Acne: All Natural, All Effective

Posted: Feb 01, 2011 |Comments: 0 |

There are a number of products available commercially that help get rid of acne in varying ways. Some may be specialized to treat oily skin, given that oil clogs the pores, while others cater to dry skin, since dead skin cells that flake may also act as "plugs" in our pores. Some others work to exfoliate the skin, others tighten, while others directly kill the bacteria causing the acne.

It is important to read about the specific product before getting it and using it on your skin because different skin types have different needs just as different cases of acne severity have different treatments. It would be best to consult a dermatologist for your skin-specific issues, although it would also be good to know what products make up the entourage of acne remedies that work, regardless of brand.

Products with salicylic acid are considered acne remedies that work, since they prevent pimples by unclogging the pores. This process is possible due to its ability to soften the keratin. However, it is advisable to have sunblock in hand because this makes your skin sensitive to harmful UV rays.

Sulphur soaps likewise treat acne in the way salicylic acid does with its keratolytic quality. Another product famous in the market is Benzoyl peroxide. It kills bacteria, which is one of the causes of acne. However, it may dry up sensitive skin or leave it red.

For a more sensitive alternative, opt for products with triclosan for the same bacteria-killing property. Products containing zinc tighten the pores, preventing dirt to freely lodge into our skin. The same is to be said of products with vitamin C extracts, as these tighten and firm the skin as well.

Using alpha hydroxy acid is also a great way to get rid of acne, with its mild exfoliating properties, however it also makes the skin susceptible to the harmful rays of the sun, and may be a little too harsh for very sensitive skin.
