Skin Care Treatment

Acne, sometimes known as Zits, is a menace to people who suffer from this condition;  treatments however, are slowly improving. Those that fall into the preventative category are based around general skin conditioning to help stop acne from forming;  for example, special toners and skin cleansers. Whilst many sufferers use these products there are even more who just want to keep their skin clean and conditioned; many use these products to protect their skin from the environment even if they do not have the acne condition. Some of these products are designed to act like an acne skin care product and act against the causes of this complaint;  they ensure the facial pores (and other areas) remain free of oil. These skin care products are designed to prevent this from happening.

Other skin care treatments can help exfoliate the skin;  there is now a variety of this type of product available over the counter. They work by reducing oil plus other contaminants from the skin and in the pores; this can reduce harmful bacteria and stop their chance of growth. There are specialized acne skin care products available over-the-counter, they do not require the need of a prescription. These products have benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid as ingredients which cause a bad reaction in the bacterium. these include creams, cleansers and peels that slow down acne formation.

Dermatologists recommend any product should have low concentrations of the active ingredient benzoyl peroxide (no more than 5.5 parts per hundred) if there is an adverse reaction; if a reaction occurs, a cleaner or cream containing alpha hydroxy acid should be safe. It is not always possible to find an acne skin care product that works first time;  if finding something that works is proving difficult, your dermatologist should be able to help. If you do need to see your doctor or skin care specialist then he may give you a prescription for antibiotics or special ointments.

Under certain circumstances, having the infected material removed from the pores under a local anesthetic may be suggested by your dermatologist;  specialists never recommend the sufferer tries this themselves as it can cause permanent skin damage. Your doctor may even suggest a course of hormone therapy as a skin care treatment; this type of skin care treatment has been very effective in many cases. There is no longer any reason to despair if you have this skin complaint or are prone to its effects.
