If you or someone you know is suffering from acne, whether mild or severe, it can sometimes be difficult to find the right treatment. Many different brand names of acne medication are available on the market, some that may work for you, others that may not. For those who would rather not spend money on long-term medication, it is a good idea to consider natural home treatments for acne that can save you a great deal of money and frustration in the end.

One of the simplest home treatments for acne is merely keeping your body well-hydrated and in shape. Though it may seem difficult to believe, by drinking the doctor-recommended amount of water a day, you will keep your skin in healthy condition, with regular exercise able to strengthen and protect your skin from unsightly acne. In the same category of lifestyle practices, it is important to keep your hands away from your face. While those with acne may feel self-conscious and be tempted to pick, it is important not to do so, as it only makes the acne worse. Picking may cause scarring and can cause the acne to spread along your skin. Additionally, there is a trick to keeping acne off that many are not aware of. Before you go to sleep, wash your face with warm, ordinary water, and pat dry. Then simply lay a clean towel over your pillow and sleep on that towel. The fresh feeling and cleanliness of the towel will stop new acne from developing while your body slowly takes care of the acne already set on your face.

Just as well, there are great deals of salves that can be created with ordinary household items that can be used to help cure acne. One of the most popularly used ingredients in these homemade salves is aloe vera. The cream of the aloe plant is very revitalizing when set on the skin and can help reduce acne outbreaks. It is also recommended to rub the juice of fresh garlic on blemishes. Although many may be against it, the antiseptic properties in garlic make it ideal in drying out acne and keeping acne off when used in conjunction with the various other remedies. Before using any of the aforementioned treatments, it is a good idea to keep any allergies in mind. As with any acne regiment, it is important to be dedicated and consistent in order to see a true change in the condition of your skin. Nevertheless, home treatments for acne will still be the best option for you and your health.
