Understanding What Acne is and Treating it

Many people, especially teens, are not totally familiar what is acne and what triggers it. All they know is that acne is a part of growing up and it is definitely something that needs immediate attention. Because they lack proper knowledge about acne, they also don’t know how to properly treat it. All they care about are the products endorsed by famous celebrities that rampant in the market claiming that they can prevent and cure all types of acne.

What is acne? The term acne came from the word Acne Vulgaris. It is actually a skin disease cause by the changes happening in the skin structures such as the sebaceous gland, skin pores, and hair follicles. The abrasions caused by acne are commonly known as zits or pimples. Blackheads and whiteheads are also part of acne breakout. If you think that you’re the only one affected by the hideous acne, think again. Almost eighty-five percent of those undergoing the adolescent stage are affected by the said skin disease. Although acne can be treated during their teenage years, others are unfortunate that their acne problem still persists until adulthood. There is no specific span of time where one can tell how long acne would last. However, there several ways that can be done in treating acne. Some are expensive while others only use natural ingredients.

Manufacturers of topical products claim that they fully understand what acne is. Choose the bactericidal product that contains benzoyl peroxide as its active ingredient. The amount of benzoyl peroxide varies depending on the moderatio or severity of the acne. You may ask the help of a skin expert or a dermatologist to know which topical product with benzoyl peroxide is the right for you. Additionally, topical antibiotics can also be used to treat acne.

Using natural ways is also popular in most people affected by acne and does not have a big budget to undergo expensive treatments. This includes fruit and vegetable intake to cleanse the body. Furthermore, drinking at least 8 glasses of water or fresh juice a day would help detoxify and improve the overall appearance of your skin. These are natural ways but the effectiveness vary depending on one’s lifestyle.

However, you must keep in mind that before you purchase any anti-acne product, even if it is over-the-counter product, you must understand first what is acne and know what type of acne you do have.
