I think I speak for most people that are or almost 50 years old, when I say that there is sort of a "Coming of Age", when you suddenly find yourself in that age group. Your days of destroying your body in one way or another, whether it was due to work or as a result of "Play" have come to an end. You begin to realize that you are a mortal being. Your minds eye wanders off to visions of days past, when you were much younger and had the capability to stay up partying all night and then work the next day. You wonder how you able to do it, and where did all of that energy go? Not only has the energy dissipated, you have become less inclined to be focused on material things, and your attention gravitates toward the idea of growing old, and staying healthy in the process.
If you are in your 50's and still haven't experienced the "Coming Of Age" that I described, you may need to admit that you have a problem. If you are still using drugs and alcohol it's more than past time to take a look in the mirror. If you are still running around, spending your time, your energy and your money on finding, buying and using drugs, there has got to be an immediate change in the way you think, or your years to come are numbered.
If you are in your 50's and you are still using on a regular basis, stop and think about what you are doing. You are creating a situation where there is a good chance that you will die, like real soon. Remember that it has only been about 100 years since the average life expectancy in the United States was a scant 47 years old. If you are in your 50's you are living in years that only science has created for you. If you continue to use drugs, when will it all end, if you don't act immediately? If you have children you need to think about how it affects them because they are not youngsters any more either.
Life is a gift. To destroy your body is to destroy your life. If you continue to use drugs and alcohol beyond the age of 50, it is certain death. A slow agonizing death. If you have a heart attack or die suddenly, you will be lucky. If you become terminally ill and bedridden, you will only be a burden on your loved ones, you will be taking away quality time from their lives, while they await your pitiful death. Your drug use will only leave them with memories that are better left forgotten. Drug addiction costs money, so more than likely you will die penniless, with nothing to leave your heirs.
If you are in you are in your 50's and still using drugs and alcohol, STOP NOW! The length of your life and the quality of the remainder of your life, will seriously and undoubtedly be affected in a very negative way. Show love for yourself and for your family by stopping, and start heading the other direction by adding years back to your life through clean living.

Increasing Access To Drug Rehab
By: bairdbraid | 25/11/2009Addiction rehabilitation is a hard thing in itself, but making it harder is the criminal aspect of drug addiction. Due to the classifying of certain dangerous drugs as illegal, drug users are less open about their addiction and their need for help.
