"Stand Up, Instead of Giving In-Celibacy, Choices or Consequences"

If ever there was a need for living a lifestyle of Celibacy, it is now, in today's culture. Whether or not one takes this literally, the underlying message is: sexual intimacy is powerful, personal and creates vulnerabilities' and a host of other consequences among  those that engage in it. Celibacy, is widely known by most as sexual abstinence, not having any kind of sexual intimacy (heavy kissing, touching, oral, anal, sexual intercourse, etc.) with a partner. Unprotected sexual relationships can lead to diseases such as: Chlamydia, genital warts, gonorrhea, crabs, and other forms of sexually transmitted diseases. On average, there are more than 1 million people in the United States that are currently living with HIV. Although the estimated number of new HIV infections in the United States has remained relatively stable in recent years, estimates show that there are still an estimated 56,000 new infections each year.

Moreover, it is estimated that about one in five of those infected with HIV are unaware of their HIV status, increasing the chances of unknowingly infecting others. It may be difficult to reduce addicted women's risk of contracting HIV. Addicted women's sexual partners are often injecting drug users. She may be unwilling to raise issues of safer sex or needle sharing because she fear's rejection or physical violence if she suggests safer sex practices with her partners.

Drug abuse usage is also a big contributor to women that practice unsafe sex. When drugs are available, addicted women will do whatever it takes to get another fix, or hit of her favorite drug of choice. Many women have gone from one nightclub, bars, dances, and parties, to the next, while getting progressively more drunk, engaging in some sort of illicit behavior or drunken sex parties.

Women with a history of narcotic and/or cocaine addiction may engage in prostitution to finance their drug use. Sometimes they come from a subculture where sex for drugs and money is common, and they may work for pimps who control them by supplying heroin or cocaine as well as money. By continuing their opioid use, prostitutes find they can numb themselves to their work, handle long working hours, sustain their energy levels, and remain somewhat confident despite their difficult situations. Women who trade sex for drugs or money usually have an underdeveloped sense of femininity and sexuality.

According to a survey published on September 15,2005 on "Sexual Behavior and Selected Health Measures: Men and Women 15–44 Years of Age, United States, 2002." Among females 15–44 years of age, 4.6 percent of Hispanic women, 10 percent of white women, and 9 percent of black women have had 15 or more male partners in their lifetimes.

The more partners we have, taints our understanding of what a "good" relationship is really like. Similarly, having sexual relationships, outside of marriage will not satisfy our hunger for deep intimacy. We are frequently challenged to make decisions about should we engage in sexual activity or not. Not only, are there social pressures to engage us into intercourse. The role that our culture media; plays in distorting our views about its acceptance of casual sex. Music videos, soap operas, films, and commercials, portrays sexual experiences as "true" love and fantasy.

Sexual abstinence helps you to focus on what's really important in your life. When you are celibate and not dating, there should be a certain sense of peace in your life. We don't have to validate ourselves by sleeping with numerous men. Nor deal with these types of emotional wounds, that comes from the other person; unwillingness to commit to a healthy relationship. God intended sex to be a union of two lives into one, uniting with Him in a covenant bond, not something to be treated lightly. The creator of all life, intended sex to be a wonderful experience shared between a husband and wife. We participate in his divine purpose for our lives, when we are obedient. When we protect ourselves from sexual relationships outside of marriage, the consequences of unprotected sex; sexual transmitted diseases, adultery, heart-break, unwanted pregnancies, and divorce, will not touch our lives.
