Life has a strange way of turning the tables. The scriptures speak of, the first being last and the last being first. Black Neighborhoods..., who would have thought they would be the catalyst which would ignite one of the most remarkable construction and job creation periods in the history of America. - And in the history of the world. Likened only to the Industrial Revolution the redevelopment of Black Neighborhoods will save Americas Economy.
It is because of the historic neglect, redlining, minimal infrastructure improvements, separate but equal funding towards schools, basic utilities etc, that many Black Neighborhoods are in Blighted conditions. While an easy case can be made to substantiate all of the above assertions, that my brothers and sisters would not be productive.
What is productive however, is for you to follow me just for a few moments as I tell you about the grain in the hood. It is because of these conditions that, right here in the middle of the most prosperous land in the world, our beloved America, that we have the solution to our Current Economic Crisis.
Yes I said it. Black Neighborhoods will Save America's Economy, in the mist of the famine? You may think that Webb has lost his mind. Not so, even though the agony of my holding this vision may justify, such a state. NO I am very cognizant, operating at my very highest mental state ever. It is really simple.
Step 1. Rebuild vacant single family homes. Purchase them for 15k. Rehab them for 25k. Sell them for 65k.
Step 2. You do the math. At 65k piti mortgage payments for a decent fixed rate 30 year loan in most markets payments will not exceed $400 dollars per month. This is hundreds of dollars less than what people pay in rent.
Step 3. Consider the scope of this opportunity. With 13 million vacant and condemned homes in America there will be work for at least 260 million people. 260 million jobs created.
Step 4. I need an economist to help us understand the impact of this one. Redevelop 13 million homes at a sales price of 65 thousand dollars per house. If you need any help this totals 845 Billion Dollars of economic activity, coming straight from the belly of America, Americas Black neighborhoods.
Wall street, Do Not Miss This ONE. Twenty Years later...Well, since we finished rebuilding 13 million homes and put 13 million families into affordable housing I guess there will not be an affordable housing crisis in America going forward. Oh yea those 260 million jobs, surely included some ex felons serious about turning their lives around. I guess our President can hold his chest out at the next United Nations meeting and tell the world that we Shut Down our Prisons, - Except for the mental facilities. The rest are at work, with their families at night spending quality time with their beautiful children. Jesus said suffer little children who come unto me and forbid them not: maybe like Joseph this is only a childhood dream. But maybe not:
