3 How to Overcome Adversity Tips and Strategies
Anxiety, panic, depression, being overwhelmed, exhaustion, feeling down,
being sick to your stomach constantly, I can go on and on….but the point
is, holding up through it all and strategically and calmly riding through the
adversity is and always will be the best one can do.
There are several reasons for us to go through adversities, for some it may
be a death of a loved one, for others it may be a health crisis, and then
there is job loss, business loss, souring marriage, having a child that has
become an out of control teenager, so on and so forth. Huh… the big problem
that a lot of Americans face these days…is losing their home. To make the
matter worse, some people may be going through a combination of some of the
above adversities or similar to it.
As bad as adversities could get, those who are able to take it easy and focus
on overcoming are the once who end up winning their life back. I will give
you three tips and strategies that would help you overcome your adversities,
but at the end, I am only giving you tips and strategies not a magic pill to
heal your pain or make your worries go away; no body can make your pain go
Here are the tips and strategies…
• As bad as your adversities are and as hard as they are, they may be
better than what had happened to the people of Haiti. Who are still after all
this time since the earthquake, don’t have a roof over their head and
descent meal with their families. They are human beings just like you and me,
with feelings. They would love to have a place they can call home and a warm
meal they can share with their families with dignity and pride. But, they are
still fighting to get a little bit of share from the truck that distributes
food. Survival of the fittest. The wick adults and children may not even get
close enough to receive the donated food. Think about it! This might give you
an insight to look at your situation differently.
• Do you remember when life was rosy and you were happy for no reason? That
was because life is cyclical; it’s not all bad or all good. We all get our
turns to be happy and then we get our turns to pass through our adversities.
In that way, you might say life is FAIR. Everything has a season. It may be a
season of obstacles, challenges, adversities, misfortunes, now. But, if you
hang in their and hold on to your ground, the reverse of all of the above
will be yours to enjoy while it lasts.
• I am from Africa, I always think a continent like Africa, which is
naturally gifted in everything under the sun, should not go hungry and
destitute; but the reality is different. Why? Some of it has to do with the
leaders, but more of it has to do with the colonization; which took away the
pride of the people. Until we go past the victim mentality, we can not be
victors. We are working on it though…it takes time to go from victim to
victor.
The same applies for each of us as people who are going through adversities.
We can not be victors until we refuse to accept that we are victims. It does
give us some comfort to remain victims because we can blame others for our
misfortune. But, only when we decide to be victors shall we overcome our
adversities and achieve success.
