If you think advertising photography is all about creating a picture that is larger than life or portraying a different life altogether which is untrue with regards to our everyday life, then its about time you changed your perception of the noble profession of advertising photography. Advertising photography is looking at life in a different way. It is all about re-living the life we have in a different way. It is about making our life better with things that not only makes our life comfortable and happy, in the larger context, it is about moving us a step ahead in the process of evolution.
Our evolution and technological development goes hand in hand. One leads to the another and therefore one is both the cause and the consequence of the other. And as human beings or responsible citizens of this earth, it is imperative on us that we take both technological innovations and human growth to next levels.
Advertising photography or advertisements contribute to a large extent towards this goal. They help paint a picture of life that we should live, that we should invite and that we should encourage and move ahead from there to yet another step.
Arguments are rife that advertising photography creates a demand in us for things that we never wanted. True, they do so, they do create a picture that is not us, that is not what we need – rather they create a want in us. But have you ever thought, that if Advertising photography did not create such a demand, could we have used a washing machine today and saved time and energy and re-invested them in something better? Could we have used a television and see what the whole world is going through? Probably no. Therefore, advertising photography is very much a necessity and it is a not a vice.
