As consumers around the world sought to avoid sugar and start consuming sugar free, diet type foods, a replacement for sugar quickly surfaced. This replacement, called Aspartame, is used in just about every sugar free product on the shelves today. It can be found in chewing gum, diet soda, and the list goes on. All told over 6000 products worldwide may use Aspartame as a sweetener.

Unfortunately, Aspartame has been linked to over 91 possible side effects and receives thousands of complaints on an annual basis. Some countries have considered the ban of Aspartame as people look at the testing that went into the ingredient and conclude that there not only may have been considerable invalid data, errors, and emissions, but further that there were ties between the makers of Aspartame and officials within various government organizations affiliated with the approval of the ingredient.

While we have uncovered information both for and against the safety of Aspartame across the internet, we are yet to find any claim that Aspartame is actually good for you. And, if the debate is simply over the long term safety of Aspartame, we are taking the stance of ‘Why would you consume it?".

We found a number of products in our search for Sugar Free, Aspartame Free products. Perhaps it’s because we are such avid gum chewers, and we sought a replacement for the chewing gum with Aspartame that filled our drawers and car cup holders. What we found was ZAPP! Gum. The Company has been manufacturing a premium line of Sugar Free and Aspartame Free gum for about 5 years we are told. We were able to order from their website at www.orderzapp.com.
