Hi there dudes! We're here at Learn electric guitar lesson. Now we're going to discuss warm-ups and finger dexterity. Learn this two electric guitar lesson and it will definitely add on your guitar playing.

Warm-up before you play anything

Never dive into a blistering speed practice session without doing a few minutes of warm-up first, even if you think that you don't need it or it sounds ugly. The reason is that your fingers and hands are still stiff and you are forcing them to move at a certain speed that will end up hurting yourself. Therefore, you need to loosen up your joints and tendons first. Take it slow and play some chromatic fingering scale pattern and gradually increase your speed.

Finger dexterity

Many guitar players program themselves into a wrong way of playing. They want to increase their speed automatically even without proper coordination with their fingers. The result, they become sloppy. One big problem here is that when you teach yourself that way it became very hard for you to correct this problem.

Finger exercises

Below are some examples of chromatic warm-ups exercises. Play it in alternate picking style. Down up down up manner. Start slowly and evenly. Never increase your speed if you're still can't play it perfectly. I know it's difficult at first but after you master this you will ripped the benefits of it. Okay, let's get started.

G------5----6----7----8-------------------------------------------------------------
D--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After you become comfortable with the above pattern try to play this next pattern. This time you play it backward. You're going to start with the high e string (thinnest).

B----------------------------8----7----6----5-----------------------------------------

D-----8----7----6----5------------------------------------------------------------------
A----------------------------8----7----6----5--------------------------------------------
E---------------------------------------------------8----7----6----5---------------------

After you master these, try to play it in all different position of the neck. I made this as an example in the 5th fret as the starting position because it is the medium spacing of the frets. Going up the neck makes the fret spacing smaller and easier to grasp.

That's all dude! Start practicing and burn the fretbord. Have fun while learning electric guitar… It's our golden rule here!
