It has been said that finding the perfect apartment is like looking for prince charming. You have to kiss a few frogs before finding the one special prince. Hopefully with these tips, finding the apartment that is right for you need not take a lot of kissing frogs but will help you land that jackpot place out right.

Know yourself

First things first, before starting that search for that all elusive apartment, it is best that you first know what it is you want. What price could you afford? What kind and types of amenities do you prefer? In what area of the town or city do you want to live in? Knowing these simple details helps in narrowing down your focus to the apartment that you want and do not want. It focuses your perspective on those choices that really matter to you in the long term.

How much are you willing to spend?

Up to what amount are you willing or are you able to spend every month? In your computation, utilities should have already been included. This allows you to not be occupied with stress and anxiety when that date of the month comes when you just have to fork up the rent. Paying should be convenient on your part and not tension-provoking.

Just where do you want to live?

As much as possible, try to see yourself living in the neighborhood or cities you like. In your choice of place or apartment to live in, consider in your decision the time it takes to commute and the choices you would want your neighborhood to provide you.

What are the things you consider important?

It would be best that you make a list of the details and features that you think an apartment or area should have that would make your stay there worthwhile. Do you value parking facilities more than policies in relation to pets? Would you prefer an apartment that is close to public transportation than security? Or would you want an apartment that has facilities for laundry?

Research, research, research

The best and most convenient way to find apartments without having to toil sweat, tears and fare, is through the internet. Drop by www.rent.net to check out available apartments in your neighborhood of choice.

Or, if you do not have internet access, check out newspaper ads and listings of available apartments. File apartment ads or print out web sites or take down relevant notes that could prove helpful in your search. After which, go through those you like and make an appointment with them. Who knows, that perfect apartment may just be a simple phone call away.

Or better yet, hire a service called apartment-finder wherein the service looks for the place you want instead of you having to scout around for a good deal. This helps especially if you have little time to go around or is not overly familiar with the place.

Inspect, inspect and inspect again

You are eventually going to live there until who knows when. It is just appropriate therefore that you give it the appropriate inspection it deserves. Are there any bugs? Are there any cracks? Are the neighbors nice? Knowledge is power and - in the long term so is - convenience.

All in all, apartments are treasures. Once you find the right one, do not let it go.

Can a landlord, their friends and family enter your property of many acres at any time? Do we have any rights or privacy?
By: jlcccfrazier | 10-08-2008
We live on 47 acres that is rented. It is mainly woods and the back of the property gives you access to a public creek. My question is, is my landlord allowed on the property anytime she wants as well as her friends, her workers, and her family? She has never came into the house, but people are coming while we are not here and hiking, fishing and soon to be hunting. What rights do we have. There is a locked gate at the entrance and she stated if it is locked and she needs in, she will just take the gate of the hinges and put it back. She will email me or call me usually, not always to tell me, not ask me, that so and so is hiking and driving through my yard to get to the fishing and etc... What are my rights?
