'freeads' or 'free Ads' - the World of Classified

"Freeads" is a mistyping
People often make a mistake and write 'freeads' instead of 'free ads'. Sometimes one misses whitespace (writing to fast with on your keyboard?) and then simply doesn't look at the search he makes. On the other hand a lot of people don't realize that 'freeads' is a mistyping, using it all the time they search for classified ads.

As I am also a online classified business consultant, I was really surprised by number of searches made for 'freeads' and popularity of the phrase that may bring a lot of traffic. Additionally, one can compare popularity of both phrases using e.g. Google Trends tool.

From the common Internet user's point of view, there is one interesting question to be answered:

"Do I get links to the most valuable websites when looking for freeads?"

I tried to compare the number of results returned by search engine as well as similarity of results. Here are the numbers:

freeads:
- 598,000 pages in Google,
- 394,000 pages in Yahoo!,
- 121,000 pages in Live Search.

free ads:
- 125,000,000 pages in Google,
- 312,000,000 pages in Yahoo!,
- 168,000,000 pages in Live Search.

Interestingly, when looking for 'freeads' Yahoo! makes suggestions on some additional phrases (like "freeads uk", "diamond freeads", "admart freeads",
"freeads hampshire") although all of them are still mistypings! Neither Google nor Live Search do the same.

Comparing the number of results returned by all three major search engines one can easily see that there are more than 500-1000x results returned for 'free ads'! When talking about similarity of results:

- three websites appear on both Top10 results (uk.freeads.net, www.adtrader.co.uk, www.friday-ad.co.uk) in Google,
- 1 (!) website appear in both Top10 results (www.usfreeads.com) in Yahoo!,
- there is also 1 (!) website appearing in both Top10 results (uk.freeads.net) in Live Search.

You can see, the difference in results is really huge! Having compared the quality of results I must say 'free ads' are much more valuable - searching for this phrase returns the biggest and most popular classified websites (like craigslist) which is probably caused by the fact that due to the phrase's competitiveness only the biggest websites are able to rank high.

Nevertheless, 'freeads' still provide a lot of traffic for classified websites which is worth remembering :-)
