Shopping for Cheap Furniture

One trip to the new furniture store is all it takes to find out how expensive it can be to buy new quality furniture. Are there places to find quality discount furniture? You can find good furniture at cheap prices in a variety of alternative places.

Furniture Outlet Stores

Furniture outlet stores often carry furniture that has slight damage or has been returned by a customer. Furniture outlet stores also sometimes carry furniture that did not meet the factory specifications. These can in that being great deals. So what if it has a nick or a small scratch. Even if you buy a new piece it won't be long before it has small marks and scratches. When you purchase furniture from outlet stores look it over carefully because these stores often have a "no returns" policy.

Estate Auctions

If you have the time to shop and attend several auctions you can often find some really nice furniture at dirt cheap prices. This sometimes takes time so if you're in a hurry you might want shop elsewhere. You can often find great deals on dining room suits and bedroom sets.

Online auctions are another resource for finding discount furniture. In this situation you may only be seeing the furniture through photographs so make sure that you're comfortable with what you are buying based on the description and pictures.

Scratch and Dents

Most new furniture stores have a scratch and dent section. This is often furniture that has been damaged in the showroom or that has been returned by customers. These items are sometimes negotiable so make sure not to pay too much and be willing to walk away. At

If you're handy with a paintbrush or varnish then you can save some money buying what's called naked furniture. Naked furniture is simply furniture that doesn't have a finish on it. This can be a fun way to buy furniture because you get to choose the furniture based on the design and then you get to add a finish later.

Adding new furniture to your home does not have to cost a fortune. You can find great prices if you do a little research and shop around.
