Perfect Fit Blinds - Will I get total coverage?

Posted: Jan 16, 2011 |
Here is one of the most frequently asked questions we get from our clients: Can I get complete coverage of my roof?

This question is often asked when someone has openers in the roof, a P shaped conservatory or some blinds with tricky shapes.

A word of explanation, a roof blind (whether the clip in type or not) must have a straight edge at the top and the bottom of the blind for it to work properly – if these straight sides are not there the blind will not draw. Now, if you look at your conservatory roof you will probably see some glass panes, which do not lend themselves to an easy solution.

Normally around the apex of the roof (where the light or fan hangs from) there is a difficult scenario as the top edge is often ‘L’ shaped (or doglegged). This is where professional blind installers will us ‘infill’ blinds. These are tiny inoperable blinds, as small as 100mm square, which go over the gap left if the top of the blind is straightened off.

If these little blinds are not used the owner of the conservatory will not get complete coverage and light will come through the roof at these difficult points. Now it is very easy for some blinds companies to just ignore this problem and leave you with something less than perfect – lets face it, its less work and expense for the fitter!

The infills we use employ the same frames as operating blinds so compliment the rest of the roof perfectly.

Now there is another scenario also - what if the gap is so small that it is not possible to make an infill blind to fit? Well with Perfect Fit roof blinds there is a plastic shield (often use on triangular blinds which come to a point) which can be cut or shaped to cover any small gaps. This shield is an integral part of the blind adjacent to the gap that needs filling.

By the way with simple Lean to conservatories this problem hardly ever arises due to the blinds being exact rectangles. It is only when you get roves that go up to an apex or point, that’s when the trouble starts!

So when you get any quotes for blinds in your roof make sure to ask about coverage – how complete will it be? If you have any blinds that are not rectangular or straight all the way across at the top or bottom whit could be an issue. Also when comparing written quotations they should obviously be for the same number of blinds so if you have one for 14 blinds and another for only 12 you need to ask why. Chances are the lesser on is NOT giving you full coverage!

Many businesses advertise with flyers and getting them into the hands of the general public is of great importance. If the delivery people make a stuff-up in any way, it reflects badly on the company. The company will be blamed if those flyers are left to blow around the streets.

Advertising today is like the weather. Everyone talks about advertising, but few entrepreneurs do enough about it to change or improve it. When you ask what the "big deal" is with advertising, that's an excellent question, because no matter how you want to view it there is one proven fact which is true of business owners and entrepreneurs worldwide... In today's recessionary spiral, every good entrepreneur wants to do more with less.
