Speakers Corner's autumn letter featuring John Amaechi and Ruby Wax, and an article about Inclusivity & Diversity

The autumn edition of Speakers Corner's newsletter went out yesterday.  It included an interesting question & answer spotlight on John Amaechi, a piece on Ruby Wax's new business venture - executive coaching and an article on the importance of Inclusivity & Diversity in business. John Amaechi, a former NBA player, a psychologist, New York Times best-selling author and social entrepreneur working in both the US and Europe, talked to us about his favourite speaking event, his first ever speech, the speech he'd most like to give and how he marries anecdote with research and my experience as a psychologist to make presentations impactful and enduring. With her background in psychology, the comedienne Ruby Wax is trying to tame the outsized egos of the business world with her new venture - executive coaching or as she prefers to call it, management retraining. Her focus is on teaching four basic principles: self awareness, self management, social awareness, and relationship management. In a credit-crunched world, Ruby believes that there is a real need for these skills. There is also an interesting feature in the Newsletter about Inclusivity and Diversity in Business and how it encourages creativity within the workplace and helps improve customer service and retention.  Barack Obama said "We have a stake in one another...what binds us together is greater than what drives us apart, and...if enough people believe in the truth of that proposition and act on it, then we might not solve every problem, but we can get something meaningful done for the people with whom we share this Earth." On top of the features, Speakers Corner's newsletter highlights a number of top speakers: Ben Cohen - co- founder of Ben & Jerrys Kevin McCloud - presenter of Channel 4's Grand Design who is passionate about sustainable & environmentally friendly architecture Dan Germain - Head of Creative at innocent Dave Brailsford - GB Olympic Cycling Team Performance Director Tom Avery - an explorer who was once an accountant with Arthur Anderson If you would like to receive Speakers Corner's newsletters, please call us on 020 8365 3200 or email newsletter@speakerscorner.co.uk to be put on the mailing list.
