You want to be known to your customers across continents. You dream of grabbing a share in the rapidly growing ecommerce business. Or, you simply want to reach out to a like minded community. Whatever the motivation, internet advertising has a solution for your business.
Internet advertising forms a one-to-one link between your company and the users of its products and services. The beauty of it is that it not only helps to spread awareness, but can also facilitate the immediate closing of a sale, through a mere mouse click. Once you have decided to go for internet advertising, the choice of vehicle will depend upon your budget. Here we’ll take a look at some of the options in internet advertising.
For those with deep pockets
Pop-ups: These are ads that display in a new browser window. A catchy one liner or a brief description of your product or service is a bonus. Better still, hooks like a freebie or promotional offer will attract the viewers’ attention immediately. A word of caution is needed here. Typically, pop-up windows come with only the close, minimize and maximize commands; hence viewers can shut them without looking at what you have to say. Smart presentation will go a long way in engaging their attention.
Pay-per-clicks: Think about this! Your site appears on the first page of a Google or Yahoo search. What more do you need, besides the most popular search engines advertising your firm?
This form of advertising allows you to choose keywords which will throw up your website when a search is performed. You decide how much you are willing to pay each time this happens and a person clicks on your link. The more you are willing to pay per click, the higher your site will appear in the results for the keywords you choose. Often you can buy this search engine traffic for as little as 1 cent or 2 cents per click. This is a more interactive, result-oriented method compared to paying for just the placement of a banner ad on a web page.
Pod casts: Pod casting is internet broadcasting. Pod casters' websites offer direct download of their files. The main attraction of this medium is that subscribers can listen to a show at his or her leisure. Although an expensive mode of advertising, it produces good results.
For those with smaller budgets
Blog your website: A blog, short for weblog, is a journal that is available on the internet. These web pages are constantly updated with new commentary and links about a particular topic. As a blogger, you can either focus on a specific topic or cover a wide range of issues, depending on what suits you best. You just have to sign up for a blogging account, post your views and have some fun! This is a good way of getting your message across to an interested audience, and it’s free.
Submit to smaller search engines: Sometimes giant search engines overlook your site easily. Submit your site to smaller search engines instead. This might fetch you bigger results as it is cheaper and sometimes more dependable.
Text links: This type of internet advertising uses a link that drives traffic to another page. It is usually rented for a certain period of time. This is cheap almost to the point of being free! A good idea is to let someone text link your site and you return the favor.
Internet advertising is an extremely popular marketing tool as more than half the world is caught in the World Wide Web. You’ll probably need to use it sooner rather than later. Improve your campaign’s results

A tide of public awareness?

you seem to be confident that these changes are only taking place on a corporate side. I fear that this assumption could be a little shortsighted. How do you propose that advertisers can counteract the rise in public awareness of advertising technologies which were previously operated "under the covers". After all how many people are prepared to stop and talk to marketing or PR enquiries on the high street? when people are given the option they invariably decide to opt-out.How can the "marketing intelligence industry" tackle this rise in "public awareness"?
