Time To Review Reservation System
Mahatma Gandhi during his bharat darshan journey which he made for understanding India acknowledged that India suffered from two slaveries. One being that of castism and another one of being woman.
Those were early days of mahatma gandhi in India.Later he tried to work for these two entities. Namely scedule caste and women empowerment.
62 years of Independence and situation has not changed much for these two entities. There is reservation for scedule classes both in education and in government jobs. Aimed to uplift those who suffer wrongly because of social evil since centuries.
Reservation has not served purpose it intended to. Because maximum advantage of reservation is taken by limited group of people and those who need reservation are not getting benefitted.
Consider this. A man is poor belonging to so called lower caste (so called because ideally no one is lower or upper as per birth). But social evil states say that he is from lower caste. This person has economic problem and is socially sidelined.
being a doctor he become financially affluent. He buys house in prime locality and provides his son/daughter with best available. He keeps best tutions for his son , provide with best school , best food and best support. Now does his son/daughter need reservation to excel?? or someone who is in position that this doctor was during his growing days need reservation?.
Now person who is in similar position as doctor was during his growing days has tough competition from someone like son of this doctor who has best of best things along with reservation, while poor person who doesnot have tution , best school , good quality teacher and faces basic challenges has to compete with doctor's son.
This is problem with current reservation model. Reservation should take caste factor into issue but at same time reservation must also take economic background into consideration. If person is earning enough to provide his offsprings well , why does that person's family need reservation.
Reservation was not designed so that only 10% people get its benefits. It was designed to uplift all those who suffered for centuries under social evils.
Reservation can serve its purpose if it is applicable to maximum two generation of particular family. Also at time of giving reservation benefit economic condition of the person must be taken into account.
Its time to review that do we need to amend reservation system?. Not eradicating it but is it serving the purpose?. Is it serving the goal of uplifting entire communities?.

India is facing a new challenge. Student Suicides. The figures are rising and students are committing suicide even when a semester exams go bad. Last week a young girl studying in second year of b com ended her life because she did bad in her economics paper . She didn't even wait for her results and hanged her , ending her life.
