Resistive Touch Screen Technology

Capacitive Touch Screen Technology
The screen panel is coated with a transparent layer of conductive indium tin oxide that conducts current continuously. There is a field of stored electrons along the horizontal and vertical axes. The human body is also conductive to a degree and also acts as a capacitor to some extent. When the screen is touched by a human hand the field across the panel is disturbed and the sensor electronic circuits send the information to the controller for further processing. Only conductive materials will induce a result in the capacitive touch screen. Non-conductors will not work. These screens have higher clarity and are relatively unaffected by the elements.
Projected Capacitance in the Touch Screen Technology
In this system the fingers of the user and the sensitive wires forms the capacitance. The capacitance is measured by the controller system and the communication gets relayed to the computer software. This technology is used with interactive foil. This means they do not require a real touch even a gloved hand can bring about the desired effect.
Optical Imaging
This technology is quite scalable and the best part is that it is quite affordable especially in case of a large display. Infra-red lights form an integral part of the whole system. There is an array of vertical and horizontal infra red sensors that are capable of detecting an interruption in the IR beam near the surface of the screen.
Strain gauge touch screens are another option which can be used in touch screen digital signage. In this the four corners are connected to the strain gauges. Mostly the strain gauge system is used in the outdoor-exposed system because they can provide a good resistance to the various weather elements.
Then there is the dispersive signal technology and the acoustic pulse recognition. In case of dispersive signal technology sensors are used to sense changes in mechanical energy fields in the event the surface of the glass is touched. it is very suitable for multi-touch and even for the largest of displays because they provide excellent clarity and can resist all dusty materials. However this is still not widely available. Last but not the least, in case of acoustic pulse recognition the mechanical energy of the touch gets converted to electrical energy. This mode of touch screen signage offers excellent clarity and the durability is also more than the others.
