What’s the Difference? (A Tactic for Small Businesses)

Having success despite you being a small business is not difficult. The key is in how you can identify yourself as something unique from the rest of your competition. In order for your target clients to recognize and remember you, you have to look for a characteristic and quality that would make you stand out from the crowd.

The problem lies not on how big or small your business is. The problem lies on small businesses trying to compete with the much bigger and stable companies. It’s like trying to hurl yourself on a head-on collision; no matter how strong the force you exert, the thing won’t budge. It’s the same thing with your competition. These companies have already made their place in their industry. It would really be very difficult if not totally impossible for you to vie for your place. And it’s not a matter of what kind or how expensive your marketing collaterals are, be it print brochures, catalog printing or even booklets, the issue is how you can make your business different from all the rest.

This is where your marketing campaign can help you. Although marketing may seem a very daunting task, it can very well be the only thing that can help you be visible, thereby generate for your business leads that can later on turn out to be your best clients.

Marketing is founded on the premise that you have something distinct you have to offer your target clients that’s why you need to let them know about it. It’s about ensuring that you become competitive and be able to stay in the game no matter how small you are compared to your Fortune 500 competitors.

So what makes your business unique? A small business like what you have now can have the opportunity to compete if you are able to provide your target clients with what your competition hasn’t provided your prospects yet. It’s no mystery that there are thousands and millions of other businesses like you. Just Google any basic goods and services and you’ll more likely to get millions of results. Try to type and search online for information on providers that has cost effective printing brochures for example and you would surely get thousands at least. How can you possibly contend with that scenario?

The key is to find your own place; your niche. Find someplace where there are no clutter and that your target clients can easily see you. Because in that place, you’ll be able to stand out clearly without anybody to vie for your target clients’ attention. This means finding out a particular niche that the competition hasn’t saturated yet.

Identify a niche and make an offer that is unlike any other. The priority of the day is to make your business stand out. In a crowded and saturated market place, the products that get bought are usually those that are unique and distinct.
