Why I Oppose Media Coverage Of Live Commando Operations
I have always held a view that any commando operation must not be telecast live. I have strongly hold that opinion . In today's age of satellite television when information can so easily flow coverage of live operation can cost life of our commandos or innocent citizens.
Yesterday my fears seems to come true when i saw special report on headline today about phone calls made between terrorists and their handlers in Pakistan.
Taj and oberoi was ok but nariman house was small building in which NSG commandos were landed from helicopter. Now handlers were viewing that!!!...They were guiding them that around 15 have landed and take position here and there. Look at window , look at stair case ....etc etc..
Well live telecast of operations should be banned.
Now coming to calls , the transcripts makes one thing clear that handler was were experienced and must have gone through commando training himself. He was well versed in military operations and was very composed , calm and he knew his job very well.
On other hand the terrorists were bit confused and were waiting for guidance from handlers ,time and again. Terrorists were just acting as input device to handlers , who processed entire information and converted that to actionable suggestions.
Handler also talked to JEW hostage and he was good in english , knew about Jews very well...Looked well educated and according to retired indian army officer , he should be from pakistan army .
Here is sample of transcript which i saw on headline today .
JEW Hostage (broken voice) - " hello , who this"
Handler - Did you talk to them?
JEW Hostage - yes i did and they would talk to Indian government , Army and they have asked to keep phone free , because they would call as soon as possible
Handler - then relax and breathe easy. save energy for better day. May be you would be able to celebrate sabah with your family.
Listening to calls one could feel the calmness of handler. Under every situation he was composed , never ever he scolded terrorist , never ever he lost his temper.
Coming back to media , i urge media never to cover live commando operations. Our commando put their lives on stake , We all are proud of them and we dont want to risk their lives for sake of knowing whats happening. Do cover the operations but please dont telecast it till operation gets over.

Last week a young girl studying in second year of b com ended her life because she did bad in her economics paper . She didn't even wait for her results and hanged her , ending her life.
