Your Fundamental Color Scheme Options in Poster Printing

Color in poster printing is always mandatory. When you print posters, it must always be done in the full color CMYK process. Otherwise, it always appears old, boring and it is basically not as effective.

However, the question is, do you really know the fundamental scheme options for poster printing? Or are you just printing posters without real regard to what colors you want to use. Well, if you are doing poster printing on the fly and just picking out random colors, then there is something you need to correct. You should read this article and learn about the fundamental color scheme options in poster printing.

For your reference, here are the five major color schemes that you might want to use when you print posters.

1.      Grayscale posters – The cheapest and most classic printing scheme of all is of course grayscale posters. Most people know this as black and white posters.

While most marketing people will stay away from grayscale, a few people still use grayscale color posters for designs and for cutting the cost of poster printing. Not only does grayscale posters project a certain formality and classic grace, it is of course the cheapest type of color that you can use for printing. So if you want that classic look, or you just need to save on printing, grayscale should be your first option.

2.      Complimentary colors – The next most basic choice of color scheme are complimentary colors. Complimentary colors are basically the colors that are “opposite” in hue in the color wheel. The usual sets are Blue and Orange, Violet and Yellow, and of course Red and Green. Using these colors in tandem increases the vibrancy of the colors making them look well together. Having themes based on complimentary colors will always result in decent looking color schemes for your posters.

3.      White and X – The next option that you can use is the “white and X” option, where “X” is any color that you want. You can do this since white is basically a neutral color unto itself. So having a color scheme for posters with white and something else will always look decent and beautiful. If you plan on just using one major color for your advertising posters, then adding a splash of white should not be a problem and should in fact improve its looks.

4.      Black and X – The black and “X” option is pretty much like the white and “X” option above. Of course instead of using white, you can use black. Black is a neutral color as well, and almost any kind of color will stand out if it is up against a black background or design element. So if you feel you want to be on the dark side, why not use black? The only drawback here is that it is more expensive to print black than white.

5.      Neon colors – Finally, if you are feeling a bit wild, you can try using neon colors. Neon colors basically shine with an almost luminescent effect. This is a perfect color scheme for people who want their color posters to be noticed immediately at once. Keep in mind though that some people actually think that neon colors are too bright, so make sure that you consider your audience in deciding if you will use neon colors or not.

Great! So those are the fundamental color schemes that you can use for your poster printing. All of this will always guarantee a degree of decency and beauty in all your color poster designs.
