"We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts, we make the world."
However, now the time has come whereby anyone can use these principles for their own benefit. You don't have to be some religious leader, genius or expert, you just need to be able to exercise a tiny bit of self-discipline and mindfulness. Trust me it's well worth it!
Once you have come to except the 'Law of Attraction' as a part of your life (and believe me you should) you will soon realize that the next thing you should be concentrating on is controlling your thoughts. Now I've been at this positive thinking game for a while now and I have come to the realization that we don't seem to be responsible for the thoughts that come into our mind as such. However we are responsible for whether we keep them there, for how long and exactly how much emphasis and focus we wish to place upon each one of them.
What I am trying to say is that we should not really be trying to control our thoughts, they just naturally flow in to our minds anyway. It is more a case of naturally guiding them the way you wish them to go. I liken it to a small boat sailing down a river, you cannot stop the flow of water, you can't physically move the river but what you could do is direct the boat to the safest parts of the river. You could take it to the places where the river runs smooth where there are no objects in your path, where the current is strongest and can take you to your destination/goal more quickly.
Alternatively you could just let the water toss you about from side to side, let it bump you into various objects - rocks, logs and other debris that you could generally harm your progress. So, from this analogy what would you rather do: guide your thoughts through the various challenges quickly smoothly and easily or face danger and ruin at every turn by letting them be controlled by external influences such as: fashion, television, news, society or whatever else might be influencing your state of mind on a daily basis?
Which are you currently doing? For if you are not actively trying to guide your thoughts. If you are just following whatever thoughts enter your mind then really your thoughts are in fact controlling you! They are keeping you in check, they are preventing you from making progress and in fact at its worst they are keeping you in chains stopping you from achieving your goals!
Think of the little boat flowing down the river again, without someone to steer it and guide it, it will really struggle through its voyage and will face many difficulties and dangers. Similarly with your thoughts, you need to learn to steer them so you can turn your life into a rich, smooth-flowing adventure of happiness and discovery, sailing wherever you so desire experiencing only that which you so wish.
This may all sound a bit too hypothetical and impractical but there are some really simple and easy steps to take that can help you instantly start to guide your thoughts to the places you wish to go. Here is one extremely effective technique that I use all the time. Basically it involves taking a sheet of paper and drawing a rough grid on it. You need to provide column headers which should be 'positive key words' or phrases which lead towards the goal you desire. The rows then need labeling with each of the senses in turn, so that's: sight, smell, hearing and so on.
Now using your grid each time you get a spare few moments you glance at your sheet and read what the first empty space is. In this case my goal might be to 'lose weight' so one of my key positive phrases is 'exercise' which is cross matched with sight. Now you simply spend a few moments visualizing in your mind what you will actually see whilst you are out running, lifting weights or whatever. Who can you see? What are you doing? What colors are you wearing? Really see in your minds eye what this situation looks like and see yourself in that picture 'working out' hard and full of energy getting fitter every day your even looking trimmer and fitter in your minds eye!
There you go, you've just guided your thoughts to exactly what you want to become like. You've filled your mind with positive thoughts. Now you need to repeat this exact same process with each of the five or six key positive words or phrases on your list using a different sense to imagine with each time. Tick the boxes after you have completed each mini exercise.
Completing these exercises throughout the day will initially feel awkward but it is great for using spare 'thought' time that was previously spent wasted on goodness only knows what.
What eventually happens is that you break the habit of letting your thoughts drift in to your mind on their own and instead they will default to positive thoughts all of the time. What is more, they will be of the type that you have been constantly putting into your mind through these simple exercises. That is when you will see the real effects of the 'Law of Attraction' and then you will really be in control of your life through the immense 'Power Of Positive Thinking'
