Most of us cannot afford to be seasoned spa goers. If you ever have the opportunity to visit a spa, whether it is because you received a gift certificate or you want to take advantage of a spa special, you should! There is no need to feel uncomfortable because you are unfamiliar with spa etiquette or sauna room behavior. This article will tell you everything you need to know!
If you have been given a gift certificate to a certain spa, then you do not have much choice in terms of where you can go. However, if you can chose, try to find a spa at which you will feel the most comfortable. Visit a few spas in your area and tell the front desk attendants that you are a first time spa-goer and would like to have a tour of the facilities. Observe how the personnel interact with the spa patrons and pay close attention to how clean the rooms are (for example, hair in the drain is definitely not acceptable). Also, look at the spa menu and prices. Do they offer the type of massage you want? How do their prices compare to other spas in the area?
Once you have decided on which spa you will use, make an appointment! Depending on your gift certificate amount or price range, you can do two or three treatments in one day. Combine a manicure/pedicure with a facial or a massage with a body treatment. Try to arrive twenty minutes ahead of your appointment time if you are interested in enjoying time in the hot tub or sauna bath. Check in at the front desk and they will show you where your locker is. Inside you should find a robe and some slippers. Change into these items and then go enjoy the sauna if you so chose before your appointment.
Sit in the waiting room a few minutes before your massage is supposed to start and the therapist will come get you at your appointment time. She will instruct you to lie face up or face down on the table and leave the room so that you can take off your robe and situate yourself comfortably under the sheets or towels. The therapist will knock before entering and then begin your massage!
As long as you make sure find a great spa and sauna facility the first time, you will have an enjoyable experience and will no longer feel uncomfortable for future spa visits!
