Showing Up Can Bring Experiences Money Couldn't Buy!

What can't money buy? We all have experiences that transcend what's available for purchase, and frequently they're the kinds of things we didn't even know we wanted, or couldn't have imagined.

Reviewing them is a great way of attuning to the larger context of what's possible.

For me, a big one was riding an NYPD harbor patrol boat around lower Manhattan and out to Liberty Island on a warm, clear summer evening in the blissful, pre-9/11 world. I hadn't even been to New York, let alone had time to think about how great the view from the water would be.

A friend of mine was recently privileged to hang out with a famous writer, one of his heroes, for a couple days: talking, dining, drinking wine, doing yoga... all in a casual, informal, friend-like manner, though they'd only just met. It wasn't orchestrated and couldn't have been.

Another friend walked into the administration building at UCLA, ready to face the bureacracy and possible additional requirements to re-enroll after a 15-year break, only to find that her file was still on-site and her units valid, and she was welcomed back with grace and ease.

Yet another friend was on stand-by for a flight that was overbooked. Her fiance wanted to leave the gate area and return to the counter to start making arrangements for a later flight, but she stayed put. There was no indication, none whatsoever, that they should have the smallest hope. All the other stand-by passengers left. At the last minute, two passengers left the plane because one was feeling short of breath. My friend and her fiance were whisked inside, and the fuselage door was shut right behind them!

A commonality in all of these stories is just showing up. Not having it all planned and arranged in advance, but being open and available to what the Universe might have in store. So cultivate a habit of saying yes to things and showing up. You have no idea what it may bring you!

When choosing a location, the first thing to consider is if the place chosen is big enough to accommodate a large group - having everyone comfortable will allow for a more relaxed baby shower. Hosting a baby shower in a home will save money; however, money will still be spent on baby shower party supplies like plates, napkins, cups, eating utensils and potentially renting tables. But it's not proved. It's passed a test, yes, but the variable circumstances under which the hypothesis will fail have simply not been found. This may seem like a subtle clarification, but I believe it has tremendous value in freeing and empowering us to create our best life.
