Successful decision making allows us to make our mark in life. It provides the platform upon which to act in life. What are the basics that could support this foundation? What bricks can we put into place to enable us to act and succeed in life?
Where should we start? What can we draw upon within ourselves to successfully navigate our way through life?
1. let us start with optimism. Does this not make a real difference to what we do, how we see ourselves, and how we see life? To look to the future - even if it is just that afternoon - with hope and a good feeling, is that not enough to brighten our day? How do we achieve this state? Is it not really our natural state? We don't see children moping around like we can, do we? They are excited, life is an adventure, new things, new activities, new smells, new sights, new - just new. . . And if they get down then soon the next thing appears and off they go again. And why should we not see and feel the same way? Is it not easier to see the good than the bad in things? To feel good, the sun shining, wispy clouds in the sky - to look for the good in things, as well as in ourselves. The more we can cultivate a positive, optimistic attitude the more we can and will enjoy our life
2. we need to decide something. Is it not good to stick at and see the task through, than throw the towel in at the first opportunity? Persistence is not difficult. It just means that we have to face challenges and obstacles - that little bit more. Try it once and achieve more and it can become a part of your arsenal on how to deal with change. And sometimes things are decided for you, if only by the fact that you persisted and the situation changed and you moved along
3. persistence alone is good, persistence with patience is a very strong combination. Not everything is going to fall into your lap, so why should we expect it too? To be patient with others, situations and, most of all, ourselves is a winner. Even if we don't decide what to do we will feel better about things. We give life a chance to sprinkle a little magic about - and in our direction. Be patient and you will receive your reward, and often in unexpected ways. Patience really is a virtue.
4. if you do something really mean it. Be sincere about what you do. Put a bit of you in everything you do. You are there anyway so is that so difficult? Other people will respond to you if you give a little of yourself, or show a little of yourself and your inner feelings to them. This is real communication. Make the most of it. Make your decisions sincerely and you will make a difference, by your attitude as well as your actions. If you back up sincerity with an apology when required and you have another double winner on your hands.
5. try whenever you can to be clear about where you are going. Not knowing does make life difficult, and clouds many an act or decision. Confusion is all around, why add our little bit to the mix? Clarity about your direction in life and what you want to achieve is a great motivator. It lends power and energy to your decisions. It gives you a conviction that you are moving on, and in the direction of your choice, to achieve those things dear to you
6. but if you are all over the place then your decisions will be that way too. Be consistent as far as you can. Rely upon firm foundations as the basis of your actions. Be flexible yes, but let the theme of life (at that time) run through the things you do. Let it light your path and show you the way at crossroads and junctions as they occur. With clarity and consistency on your side just think what you can achieve
7. act with dignity, both for yourself and others. Respect yourself. Accept yourself. Yes, there may be areas for improvement, but don't beat yourself up on the road to improving. What is the gain in that? Be honorable and honest in your approach to life and others. But equally give yourself the space and time to develop and grow. Be aware of how you feel. Be aware of how you think. Be aware of how you act. And try just that little bit harder to give more, to be more, to achieve more - and you will
8. life will shine on you some days and others the sun will appear hidden behind storm clouds. Take the fortunes of life in your stride. Really believe that life is not out to get you. Rather, while it may test you from time to time, it does offer such a rich tapestry of sensations and experiences - just don't admire them all from a distance, get stuck in and enjoy every last one of them!
9. if you are open and receptive, your life will be full of interesting and instructive experiences. Let the insights that come your way be meaningful for you. Don't just let them wash over you, feel great, but then they are gone and nothing has been learned and you have not been touched in any purposeful way. Grab these insights, taste and feel them, remember them - and use them in your future life to help move you along to greater satisfaction and fulfillment.
So utilizing all the experiences and knowledge at your disposal you can not only survive but grow and mature, develop and improve, enjoy and produce, have fun and . . .
Let the above help to prompt you and help you realize the understanding you have at your fingertips. What you have experienced in your life will aid you in your life - if you let it. You have the wherewithal to decide the life you want. Visualize it and go for it. It is all there for you . . .
