The importance of knowing your passion and following your own path.

Ask anyone who knows me and they will tell you I am a well founded person with good morals and a generosity of heart. My parents brought me up well, I had a great childhood and good parental guidance. Frankly, I could not have asked for more. My parents were loving, hard working people who gave me a great deal of freedom, safe in the knowledge that they had taught me well and could trust me not to get into trouble or ever do anything I or they would be ashamed of. I had, you might say, a good start in life.

But amidst this idyllic childhood dwelled an unseen spectre that has always haunted me. Dad, though a good man in every respect, instilled in me a deep set and powerful control that has stayed with me all my life and, to be honest, prevented me, or given me the excuse at least, for not reaching my full potential in the way I would have liked. Dad, bless him, was a modest man, a man who lived within his means and self determined position. He was never out of work, never in debt, resourceful, even ingenious at times but, most of all, always knew his place as a working man and never once was tempted to step across his comfort zone boundaries in order to better himself. Now, maybe he had it right? As I mentioned, he was never out of work and he never owed anyone. He died a much loved and respected man which always makes me wonder, is there anything more you can hope to achieve in life?

Of course, personal happiness and the self perceived achievement of our full potential is a very personal thing. No one can decide what is truly best for us other than – ourselves. As a result I have taught my children just one thing, one rule to live by. "Don't do what the system expects of you, do what makes you happy". Though we don't realise it our society preconditions us to what is "normal" and "expected" of us.  Get educated, get a job, get married, get a house, get kids, get old. It doesn't have to be like that and being a "non-conformist" will not send you on the road to Hell, quite to the contrary it will send you on the road to freedom.

It's often said, "we only have one life", no one can deny that. But a life is like a car, we can all have one but how we drive it will determine where we go. I always wanted to write, to be a musician, to live in the countryside , to be a free creative, a citizen of the World. But I ended up with two marriages, four children and a mortgage and a feeling of unfulfilment in many ways. Of course I love my family and would not change a thing in that respect but there is still a big part of me that wants to climb to the highest hill and soar like an Eagle. Now at 50 I am doing my best to do just that.

I have learned allot through my life, amassed great knowledge I can now pass on, that will help others structure their lives and not miss out on what they need to accomplish to feel fulfilled. I am delighted to now be doing this as a mentor and life coach. I have also joined a company who will promote my songs. I am writing a novel and working on a major internet project that could affect and benefit millions of people. Life is now revolving around what I want to do and, for the first time in a long time, I feel great.

Finding and following your passion is a fundamental necessity to finding happiness. You must like who you are, be happy when you wake in the morning and when you retire at night. Be free of self doubt or denial, you must be free to be – you.

My aim and objective now is to help people to do this. To find ways to improve their life and happiness by learning how to be honest with themselves, how to ask themselves questions, hear the right answers and then, ultimately, to act upon them.

Fortunately for me I have discovered a group of people I can relate to. Other, like minded thinkers, who also seek to help people as I do. Just knowing these people exist and feel the same as me is extremely comforting, unlike my father, these people have helped me understand that it is indeed okay to follow your dreams and pursue your passion.  It is important to do that as soon as you can.

The World is changing, as are lifestyles and values, it has to for society to survive. I believe that one day we will be judged more on the size of our vegetable patch than the car on our drive. Pursuit of our passions will replace pursuit of possessions as a passion will last forever while products can only fall victim to changing fashion and obsolescence.

Your inner health will become your outer wealth, your state of happiness your road to contentment and your focus on freedom over the shackles of social conformity will truly unlock all your doors for you.

This is a time to look at your life and make changes and I can help you do that.
