Multiple streams of income must be the objective of any business, not to mention any person, who wishes to financially secure themselves against a single point of failure, or a single avenue of income.

If you only have one product to sell, a single report or a software package, for example, and all your income is gained from that one product, the risk is a lot higher that should the market shift, a competing product is released or you lose your supplier, you will lose out.

Similarly if you have a job, you are at the mercy of your employer,no matter how good you or conscientious you are. One major issue, and you can be out - it has happened to so many people and will continue to happen in the future.

Therefore to hedge against such an issue, creating multiple streams of income is the smart way to work and this is especailly important with affiliate marketing programs. With these programs, it is really easy to find products that complement each other and that you can jointly market, such a web hosting package and a site builder. You need only a single site to market these two together, yet you have two products and the beginning of multiple streams of income.

On the subject of websites, the first step in creating a product to sell is to find a hosting company. It is also the easiest step, and all you need is a decent, low cost offering to get going without spending a fortune.

Next you need a domain name and for this you need to spend some time to come up with a name that is relevant to your niche or product. This will be the start of your "seo-ing" (search engine optimisation) For example it would be a good idea to have the word 'car' in your url if you planning a tips site on cars, for example.

You next step would be to create a lead capture page to capture subscribers which you can market to at a later stage. You lead capture page needs to offer an enticing appetizer, such as a free report, a free book or something that will encourage people to leave their details in order to obtain this free giveaway.

Do not underestimate the power of building a list - a well cultivated list with a loyal subscriber base, will provide you with a rich vein of income. Treat your subscribers with respect and provide them with value, and you will build a good relationship with them. They in turn will buy from you in the future, quite likely on a repeating basis.

The way to manage these subscribers is to subscribe to an autoresponder service, load up a few emails, say 10 to begin with, space them out 2-3 days apart and then keep adding to the messages over time, ensuring you provide a stream of good information and product ideas such as your affiliate products.

The final step is to then repeat the same process with different products and different offerings thereby building up multiple streams of income.
