What Is A Problem Anyway?

Have you noticed how a problem can grow the more you fix your attention on it? Do you lose sleep at night worrying about something that may or may not happen? Is it really a problem you have or is it something created and maintained by the mind?

It is time to break the illusion and understand what a problem really is! Have you noticed that the above questions all contain an element of time. The great spiritual teacher Eckhart Tolle said that there are no problems only life situations. A life situation is the one in which you find yourself now and is in fact the only time you can do anything about it. If something can be done then you do it or else you do nothing. There is simply no other choice; all other choices are out of the present moment and illusory.

The mind loves to hold onto, and build a life situation into a problem. It does this through the subtle use of time and the process of identification. For, is it not you who is suffering with the problem; this drama happening to you everywhere but the Here and Now? Do you see what the mind is doing? It is creating the problems by moving you away from the place you truly are, the Here and Now. You have become identified with the mind and give it more energy by dwelling on past or future events. You see, problems can get worse but life situations are either here and now or not. The former is a product of the mind; the latter requires presence. Why does it require presence? Because it is real and not imagined. You either take action or not, that is all you can do.

How do we break the minds hold over us? The answer is to take away the element of time. When you do this the mind is only used as a tool to deal with the current life situation. The things you have learnt and experienced are put to good use in dealing with what is and not what might be. Can you see how your life can improve in so many ways? The energy you give your mind in maintaining its illusion can now be put to better use in sorting out the current life situation. You will achieve more because you will be taking relevant action in the present moment more often. The problems you once experienced will no longer be. Your health will improve as you will now be free from mind induced emotional reaction.

You will return control to your real self, the only self that knows what's best for you!
