A lot of you don't like having to write, in fact downright dread the prospect of that blank page facing them. To many, it just seems like a lot of work put into something that may or may not be read. This goes double if the article is less than inspiring in subject. Articles, of course are created to be read; their intent is to convey information to the reader. If no one reads it, then it has been wasted time and effort.
However, an article can't be read until it is written. The object is to make the article worth reading. Writing an interesting article doesn't have to be drudgery; there are just a few things to keep in mind. You might even find yourself enjoying article writing, once you learn the ropes. There can also be a lot of money in it for you and your business.
As they always tell you, write what you know. If you're a site owner, obviously you'll want to write about something which is relevant to the topic of your site. This way you are writing about something you're already something of an expert in, and ideally already have an interest in; this will make the process of writing articles feel much less like work.
Below are six red hot tips to get your articles read. Follow them, and you'll be able to produce well-written, interesting articles that your visitors will want to read.
1) Keep your paragraphs short. If you let a paragraph run too long, you will lose the attention of a lot of readers. Keep their eyes moving quickly from paragraph to paragraph.
2) Use numbering and bulleting in your articles. These make a list of facts stick in the minds of your readers. their use is also a visual clue that here are facts, pay attention. Good formatting is important here. Indent your numbers and bullets; this will make your article, and the list within it stand out.
3) Use Sub-headings to divide your paragraphs on the page. Doing so breaks up your ideas into easy to digest portions for the reader. You'll be more likely to retain the attention of readers this way.
4) A good, attention getting title is key. Your title should grab the curiosity of visitors; this will get them interested in reading your article. Try to use keywords that people will be looking for in your title while still keeping it concise and to the point.
Titles that titillate or are imperative in tone are good ways to get and keep people interested in your articles. Appeal to their emotions.
5) Keep your readers attention all the way through the article. Open with anecdotes or hypothetical situations that your readers can relate to. Be descriptive, but don't go overboard. Use metaphor and simile to make your article pleasurable to read.
6) Use facts and figures, they work wonders to get reader's attention. Try not to come off overly formal or authoritative in tone though. Keep it light and friendly, yet informative.
