Affiliate Program Set Up: How To Tips

The most general type of affiliate program set up is to find programs that are willing to pay you to sell products for them online. In doing so you can expect to be paid commissions. There are however ways to maximize income generated from these programs. Getting familiar with internet marketing strategies and techniques are a real plus when it comes to advertising and driving traffic. one great advantage to this is that you can save a lot of both time and money. I'll discuss that later in this article.

When getting started the first issue is to determine what industry you would feel comfortable promoting. Ideally an industry that you know something about or a skill that you are passionate about would be a great starting point. Working in this manner an affiliate program set up would be easy to do. Not only would you be knowledgeable about the products that you come in contact with but promoting them would be a breeze as a result. So thats the first step, getting established with an industry.

All industries have sub categories within them. These sub categories are where you would want to concentrate the bulk of your efforts when seeking products to promote. Why? With the smaller categories of big industries you can find and target specific groups of people. i.e. Home Decor is a huge industry but it's much too broad to promote from.


Now do a search on home decor. There are literally hundreds of different less broad more targeted categories to choose from for an affiliate program set up of which to launch campaigns from. There are categories within categories each time and the audiences are getting much more targeted.

Be sure you don't get the categories down to where there aren't much of a group to promote to. The reason for digging or going from category to category inside an industry is to isolate particular groups. Specific groups of people who are all searching for a particular item better known as target audiences. If you want to experience real success in affiliate sales set up affiliate programs around these types of audiences.


One thing to strive for as an affiliate is to Always try and promote products that pays you 50% commissions or higher. If you're going to go through the trouble to promote products why promote for peanuts when you can, with the same effort, get a worth while commission. I've personally earned $50-$60 on a single sale. Products with a back end product (additional products offered after the initial sale) can enhance affiliate sales tremendously with no added sales work involved. The back end product is usually an automatic (OTO) one time offer that is put in place and offered one time only. Some may even be a product that has a recurring payment connected with it. Hows that for having an pretty effective affiliate program set up?   


Digital products are the best products to promote for several reasons. They can be delivered instantly, you can sell them for greater commissions, and there is no shipping and handling involved. Make no mistake digital products are a multi billion dollar industry annually.

As stated above having internet marketing experience goes hand in hand with promoting products on the internet digital or otherwise. Learning techniques and strategies to promote affiliate products online or off puts so much power at your fingertips. A typical affiliate program set up coupled with the added ability to advertise in top spots for free whenever you like and being bound by nothing is just priceless. Learning can be as easy as baking a cake from the instructions on the package. There is no waiting for advertising results, no spending outrageous money that you may not have month after month etc.
