Connect with Your Downline through Regularly Scheduled Meetings

In the world of affiliate marketing an informed, trained and motivated downline is a sure path to increased sales. A downline that performs with the precision of a Swiss watch can make your job as an internet marketer a lot easier. You can only benefit from your downline when you make the time to connect with them on a regular basis at a pre-determined time. While you want to be available for your team at all times, you need to make sure you and they are available at a set time each week or month for the sake of organizational unity.

Now, we're not talking corporate boardroom organizational unity per se here. We are talking, however, about having some sort of professional paradigm for conducting business efficiently. Whether big or small, businesses need some sort of structure on which to operate. A certain amount of structure keeps everyone on the same page so-to-speak. Your affiliate marketing downline may be huge; it may also only consist of a handful of members. Regardless, you have to have that structure in place that allows for the communication of ideas, methods, and processes.

Why is this important for your affiliate business? It's important because your downline needs to know two things from you, their leader/mentor. They need to know what you expect of them as downline members and they need to know that they can bounce ideas and concerns off of you on a regular basis. The former lets them know what they have to do to remain profitable, producing members of your team. The latter lets them know that their views and concerns are just as important as yours are as you both seek to build a profitable affiliate business.

Regularly scheduled weekly or monthly meetings, online or in-person, allow for the free-flow of ideas. They also allow for social interaction with others as affiliate marketing can be a sterile, lonely business sometimes. You can spend so much time in front of your PC looking at sales statistics, hit counts, page views and the like that you lose touch with the people you rely on to help you build your businesses. When you engage with others in regularly scheduled meetings you begin to understand how you are responsible to them and their business just as you are to your own. That's what being part of an affiliate team is all about.

When your downline knows that regularly scheduled meetings are part of the business norm for your affiliate endeavor they will plan for them. They will bring ideas, questions, and requests for information, resources, and tools to help them be better affiliate marketers. When they come and interact this way they are connecting with you and other downline members. This connecting builds up your downline's morale, contributes to helping under-achieving members develop, and make everyone operate efficiently as a team.

Another thing that regularly scheduled meetings do is afford team members the opportunity to feel they are operating as professionals. It's too easy to get that laid-back country-club mindset in affiliate marketing. Your team works alone, when they want to, dressed how they want to, and this all contributes to a laissez-faire attitude. Regularly scheduled meetings instill some of that corporate culture in your downline.

However subtle, it lets them know they are part of an organization in many respects. They have a team leader, you; they have team members, the rest of the downline; they have the meeting platform. Even done in cyberspace, a regularly scheduled meeting is corporate culture on a different scale and predisposes participants to some measure of professionalism. This professionalism heightens ones sense of responsibility to their team, and themselves, so that all benefit.

Employ regularly scheduled meetings to connect with your downline. Let these meetings be the prompts that get your downline connecting with one another. Use regularly scheduled meetings to allow these connections to grow stronger week after week and month after month. The stronger the connection between you and your team, and your team members with each other, the stronger the team and the entire affiliate enterprise is as a whole.
