As an affiliate marketer, you have a responsibility to add to your customer base. You do this through methods passed down to you from others in the game. When you entered the world of affiliate marketing, you may have used the advice given to you by a mentor or an affiliate manager. That is all great. You need to tap into knowledgeable resources that can help you grow.
However, you owe it to yourself to develop your own unique ideas and methods. Why is this important? It's important because you are a unique individual who has ideas and concepts that are unique to you. When you advertise you and your affiliate product to potential customers in your specialized way, you come across as fresh, and different from your competition.
The way to come up with ideas that are in tune with your personality and way of doing things is to think of why you chose your affiliate product in the first place. What attracted you to the product? Why do you like using the product? What features of the product do you like the best? Write down the answers to all these questions and then formulate promotions based on them.
You want to do that because there are customers out there who may think along the same lines as you do. When you speak to them a message that they're waiting to hear, you make a connection.
Think of it, you may be a specialty tea enthusiast. You love organic, green teas for their anti-oxidant benefits. You do not really care about the evidence that they may promote weight-loss. You just know there is evidence they may be great for building your immune system to fight sicknesses and diseases. That's why you drink it. That's why you chose to market a particular company's product. Reach out to customers whom you believe want these benefits explained to them. They are your target market.
Transform your article writing to talk about the health benefits of the teas you sell. Structure your on-line ads and a portion of your website content on these benefits. It's what gets you excited about the product and may catch the interest of those customers who are looking for something more than just a "cup of tea".
Along with performing promotions that reach customers who think like you do, you can develop ideas that target new benefits of a product. In the above example, you promoted what you like about a product to attract the attention of like-minded customers. Now, do your homework to try to find new uses for your product, and then go after customers who may like these new uses.
You may have a software product that you market that allows a business to manage their inventory better. Upon becoming more acquainted with the nuances of the program, you now realize it also has the capability of performing advanced analytics for product movement according to categories and sub-categories. Maybe the manufacturer never highlights this feature in their advertising. Maybe they focus on one or two selling points and leave the consumer to discover hidden gems about their product on their own.
You now can take this idea, of promoting a little known feature of the product, and use it to speak to a completely new niche of customers who require this feature, but never knew about it entirely. That is developing marketing ideas to attract new customers. That is seeking out the little unknown things that your competition may not be doing.
This is what gives you that competitive edge. You are looking at your affiliate product in your own unique way and seeing things about it that interest you. You now pass this on to a market segment that thinks the same way. That's what connecting on a personal level with customers is all about.
Seek out new ways and ideas for promoting your affiliate product based on your unique outlook and view of your product. You see things differently, and like different things about your affiliate product than others do. Get that message out to those customers who think like you. They will want the same things you wanted from the affiliate product and will come to you to get it.
